China Envoy Warns Japan Not to Backtrack on Expressions of WW2 Remorse

. . . .
Thanks bro, i really appreciated the long write up and the quality of your post. Yea it seems that the Dutch seems to have done their share of apologizing, but that is only to Indonesia, there are still so many folks in the Americas that are of Javanese descent that are still there. Case in point several summers ago i went to the island of Aruba with my gf, and one of the folks that was hosting us in a hotel looked 'Asian' to me. So me, trying to strike up a conversation, asked her where's she's from, i had thought she was Filipina because her facial features looked Malay. She told me she's actually from Suriname, and she told me that there's actually a lot of Javanese ethnics living there , over 14% of the nation's population to be exact. There were also ethnic Sri Lankans and Bengalis, apparently they were brought there in the early 19th century by the Dutch and English as slaves.

I never, i kid you not, never knew about this. I didn't know that the Europeans were shipping Asian peoples as slaves!! I always thought it was Africans, but i guess i was wrong.

Jup and not only that bruh, Suriname inherited ALOT of Indians from the British Empire at that time as well. And we also had so-called ''coolies'' from China, ''paid'' foreign workers for the plantations, but who were being treated as slaves all the same. The amount of slaves from around all corners of the globe made even the indigenous people, the Dutch called them Boscreolen, somewhat of an minority in their own country. However, this whole melting pot of western, African, Caribbean, Chinese, Indian and Indigenous cultures made Suriname, ironically enough, the peaceful multicultural country it is today.

I think that the Surinamese dish roti symbolizes this very melting pot lol. You have rice, potatoes, flat bread, cabbage and chicken curry all on one plate. I usually, with exception of the flat bread, like to mash up everything, and then use the flat bread to ''dip''. XD And damn... does multiculturalism taste good!

Yea man, just so much we learn from the history. Seriously after learning about that , i really had a new view for Holland. And ive been to lots of Dutch territories in the Carribbean like St. Eustasius, Bonaire, Aruba, Curacao. The entire South America, Caribbean, Central American area truly was the hub of the slave-network back then.

That's very metanalytical of you, bruh, lol ! I like that ! Yes, you're right, Suriname is an example of how multiculturalism works and can be peaceful. See what happens when its not politicized? :)

As for Surinamese roti? I never got to try that, but when I was in Aruba people spoke a dialect there that almost sounds like Portuguese? They called it Papamientu? Sounds cool, lol. But yea, lots of beautiful mixed folks in Aruba, like the mixture of Africa, Dutch, Spanish, Indian, Asian etc ! Really beautiful people...

Europeans don't view rgier colonialism & Imperialism as a crime

Quoted for truth
Victors write the history

Because you guys never seriously required their apologize. Sometimes some Indian guys even think the colonism history is not bad, especially when we meet the problem of Macmahon line. The British troops didn't reach there, Indian couldn't get the area.
When Korea require Japanese apologize, how many ex-colonial countries ever supported them? ASEAN, South Asia, African nations all keep quiet, even laugh Korean is over and crazy.

As a matter of fact, Germany did apologize to the Jews, and they were forgiven and things moved on since. Japan needs to own up for the atrocities and grievances caused.

I do not disagree with you at all. And I proudly say that Japan has been apologizing, and most certainly will continue to apologize until the hearts of people are satisfied.

Has the west ever apologized for the implementation of global slavery ? Has England apologized ? Has France? Has Holland? Has Belgium? Hmm? Seems to me that the Europeans' crimes against humanity throughout the centuries, which led to the deaths of hundreds of millions --- are seemingly white washed? Glossed over?

And Japan being the token "Evil Yellow Peril".

Of course.

Did Europe apologize for starting the Crusades? Hmm?

Of course not.

Kevin Rudd, the then-PM of Australia, made an apology to Indigenous Australians, in particular to the so-called Stolen Generations in 2008. So there you go. ;)

What about the British Opium Wars? That led to deaths of millions of Chinese and tens of millions becoming influenced by addiction ? The great shame? Did England apologize? Did England apologize for the slave-like conditions they kept the proud Indian people working to make opium destined for China?

Of course not.

They are glorified by modern culture and media. No one even talks about these things.

Oh but a las, when it comes to Japan ? Evil, Imperialist, Island Invader, Eternal enemy of China blah blah blah.

@TaiShang
Well opium war killed less than 10000. Brit didn't attack civilians or anything. It is far different from second sino japanese war which killed 10 to 20 million, mostly civilians.

There is a reason why chinese are far more bitter at japan than britIan. Afterall, britian built hong kong from a lifeless fishing village to a world financial center.
