China continues to splash out on its defence spending, hiking its 2014 budget by 12.2 per cent to $147.11bn.
China will increase its defence budget by 12.2 per cent for 2014, the finance ministry says, marking another double-digit increase in the rising giant's military budget.
"The appropriation for national defence is 808.23 billion yuan ($A147.11bn), up 12.2 per cent," it said in a budget report on Wednesday prepared for the annual session of the rubber-stamp National People's Congress.
