Operation Burnt Frost - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
U.S. Officials point out that the U.S. had no reason to prove that it could shoot down a satellite as it did this in the 1980s, and that this launch was publicly announced. Another key difference pointed out by General Cartwright was that this intercept happened at a much lower altitude, whereas Chinas ASAT weapon destroyed a target at a much higher altitude and now poses a danger to other spacecraft. Finally, U.S. officials say that the missions intent was to preserve human life.

Americans also say the invasions of Iraq was meant to preserve human life. Don't get too hung up on propaganda.
canada agrees with the US.

Now its time for us to test ASAT. These debris would be a great excuse....
A missile is not fired without doing proper simulation tests. Either the test will fail or it will hit the target both of which is common in missile technology. The possibility of hitting the wrong satellite is very less. Also don't worry the BMD which India is building has a very good hit percentage. I think if the test will be done, 90 5 chances are for success, otherwise no test will be done. What if it misses and hits somebody else's satellite. That would be a declaration of war.
