I don't agree with the censorship part but i think the reason for not to commemorate the accident and the victims on television is lose of face and feeling ashamed that such a tragic event took place. Western media would use argument as "Does China think its people are dumb?" which is just an excuse from them to criticize the censorship. Take a look at תÑÛ¡¶7.23¸ßÌúʹʡ·¿ìÒ»ÖÜÄê_ÁÙ䬰É_°Ù¶ÈÌù°É Now as you can see people have the freedom to blog about what had happened last year.
I'm just wondering if US would broadcast incidents like US war crimes in Iraq commemorating the victims. We all know they killed the British Reuters news reporter from the Apache. Among the dead were other innocent people in and around the van. I'm wondering if US televisions would broadcast such news a year after that shooting, if not would you people slam US for censorship? I doubt that because everybody seems to claim it's the land of democracy so there's no censorship.
