China Blames 54 Officials for Bullet Train Crash (design flaws)

we have thousands of patents on that train with material, process and design improvements, so no, it is not japanese technology anymore.

have you ever heard of a copy that runs faster and more efficiently than the original? at best it runs the same. only with improvements does it run faster.

OK,
Let's rephrase, it's based in Japanese technology with some improvements made by Chinese. Basically it is true to say that it's Japanese Tech and Chinese were not able to replicate properly and induced design flaws caused that unfortunate accident.

Every technology is based on something else. Japanese didnt invent the train.
No wonder PISA says 89% Indians age 15 is functionally illiterate.

if you put it that way, all trains are British technology. Japan just copied Britain and modified.

Tell me honestly, you don't feel happy when you post all those India bashing articles through out day..

.

nothing wrong with bashing each other on here but there are limits. this was an accident where people died. i would feel the same for any countries nationals to suffer this. just remember each person had a brother , mother etc and the suffering they are going through

^^^^^^^^

Good to see we are still respecting the dead and talking about train crash design flaws.. Why ther hell are you bringing aid and poverty into a thread? Do you have no respect for yourself or others.
There is issues with trains in all the nations discussed. China is no different than others. Its shocking how some Indians feel that they must have a bash and throw stones - then when they get a brick thrown back why be surprised?
Guys stick to discussions and lets keep the cr*p off here.

Don't you know that quoted PDF member???? and Could not you understand whatever he/she has posted before????

If you really like not pretending and acting like a senior member,,,, please go through my post #7
OK!!! let me do it for you
Nothing to do with CHINA,,, mishaps are the part of life,,,,,, CHINA is a BOND in railway tech and we need to accept it...

Before blaming to CHINA first of all we need to speed up our trains,,,, moreover our low speed trains(freight) are even getting mishaps........

here is the truth
Indian railways lags 20-25 years behind world on technology front: E Sreedharan - Economic Times

I have reported a no of india bashing posts but there were no action taken,,,,, so could not let anyone to go ahead,,,,, who ever it may be...

japan and Germany had more serious train accidents than this one,as for tech imitation, every country is copying every country's technology,US copied Germany's,Japan copies US...it happens everywhere, the whole national system and culture, written language of Japan was capied from China and US.but somehow after some years, they managed to do better than others, real China's development didnt start untill after 1980s,so the country is still experiencing the initial stage, but already made a lot of improvements.

I am just showing you the real picture - Did i ever claim Pakistan Railway is safer (I know for a fact that it's crap) and better then Chinese Railway when in fact your people can't even afford the kind of trains China operates (As India has more poor then entire Africa).

Real Picture, nobody sit over the roof of boggy on electrified rail lines because it dual traction wire of 25kv AC each, a human can't even survive in 220V Ac line think of 25KV . The guy wanted to commit suicide that's why he did that and try to think like a sane before posting such bullshit.

China has a vast high speed railway system, very soon most high speed railways will be in China.

Embarassed China, oders recall

BEIJING (AP) — A Chinese bullet train manufacturer recalled 54 trains Friday in a new embarrassment for a problem-plagued prestige project following a July crash that killed 40 people.

The recall adds to signs Beijing is scaling back ambitious expansion plans for a high-speed rail network that once enjoyed a level of political prestige comparable to China's manned space program. A moratorium was imposed on new rail projects this week and the railway minister announced a reduction in train speeds.

The recall applies to model CRH380BL trains used on the Beijing-Shanghai line, which has suffered repeated delays blamed on equipment failures, state-owned China North Locomotive and Rolling Stock Ltd. said. There was no indication it was linked to the July 23 crash on a separate line in southern China.

Experts will examine sensors which were faulty or too sensitive and cause trains to stop unnecessarily, said a CNR spokesman, Tan Xiaofeng.

The Beijing-Shanghai line has suffered "frequent quality problems" with components provided by U.S., European and Chinese suppliers, Tan said. He declined to identify the suppliers.

Beijing launched an overhaul of the multibillion-dollar bullet train network after the July crash triggered an avalanche of public complaints about the human cost of recklessly fast development.

The bullet train was meant to showcase China's technological advancement and support possible exports. Chinese companies have sold high-speed rail cars to Malaysia and are working on projects in Turkey and Saudi Arabia. Now, those countries might think twice before buying Chinese rails.

The disaster has prompted policymakers to decide China needs to "rectify the excesses" of its system and slow an unsustainably fast expansion, said Ren Xianfang, senior China economist for IHS Global Insight.

She likened its impact to Japan's Fukushima nuclear disaster, which turned the Japanese public against nuclear power.

"It is quite clear now that stepping on the brake is the only viable policy option," Ren said in a report.

State media have begun reporting on the cost and excesses of the bullet train in a sign official support for the system is eroding.

On Friday, state broadcaster China Central Television showed scenes of an apartment complex in the eastern province of Anhui over which a bullet train viaduct was built on huge concrete pillars. Residents were shown complaining about the noise of passing trains and damage to property values.

CNR announced a temporary halt to production of CRH380BL trains this week.

The Xinhua News Agency said this week trains "abnormally stopped" three times due to faulty sensors. The newspaper Shanghai Daily said there were more than 40 breakdowns since late July but did not say how many involved CNR trains.

Even before the July crash, the bullet train was a target of critics who said it was dangerously fast and too expensive for a society where the poor majority need more low-cost transportation, not record-setting speeds.

China has the world's biggest train network, with 56,000 miles (91,000 kilometers) of passenger rail. But trains are overloaded with passengers and cargo, and critics say the money would be better spent expanding slower routes.

Critics have expected changes since the bullet train lost its biggest official booster when the former railway minister was dismissed in February amid a graft probe.

China has 13 high-speed railways in operation in the country, with 26 under construction and 23 more planned.

Earlier plans called for expanding the network to 10,000 miles (16,000 kilometers) of track by 2020. Authorities have announced no changes but the railway ministry says it is spending less than planned this year on the high-speed system.

Authorities blamed the July crash on a lightning strike that caused one train to stall and a sensor failure that allowed a second train to keep moving on the same track and slam into it. That caused train cars to fall from a viaduct near the southern city of Wenzhou.

you news is very old and needs to be updated, that was an immergency measure taken by the government after the crash, they had been put back into service already.

Yeah yeah, everything is based on something else but what matters is how you get that something else? First you steal somebody else's work then you start claiming as it's own.. very nice.. That's a distinctive chini trait nowhere else to be found and see chinis feel proud of the stealing as well.. would like to know how does this distinctive characteristic come to you guys? Is it taught as a child or is it taught in your schools/colleges?

Only the naive would fall into the trap called IP, because it was made to hinder the stupids to progress. We did steal British inventions (e.g. the Adler locomotive) when we started industrialisation, so did the US and Japan. No wonder that India after 60 years of aping the West is still unable to come out with anything amazing in the industrial sector.

At school you also learn from the ideas of somebody else and change them to something new.

Quite amused how you throw the word chini this and chini that especially since you use it in a manner most discerning, its very similar to the word cina used for the chinese community in South East Asia, there is another word used to describe Indians in this region which is a lot more offensive then the word cina. Coming from a multi cultural region I choose not to use it as respect to the Indian community here and the ones on this forum, sometimes I wonder why people like yourself cannot show the same respect while asking for sensible answers. Unless its only non Chinese answers you seek.
