They stayed put in your ally Cambodia...which was your stated goal (remove them from there)....so yeah big huge failure. You couldn't even reach Hanoi (just few miles from the border) because thats how bad you guys were at fighting.
All neutral observers and analysts basically agree that Vietnam whooped China's butt in that war....and China pissed its pants even more in the early 90s when they saw what the US did in gulf war 1....a capability you still have not demonstrated one iota anywhere.

It is basically why China fears Japan so much today....and wont lift a finger against renegade Taiwan (who's leader shows you the middle finger constantly.... DPP is such fun aren't they? LOL). Enjoy the island chain containment for however many more decades, probably effectively forever in various ways since you are always going to have opponents given your middle kingdom ego + Nanking complex combined. Must suck knowing each and every naval asset gets tracked and monitored easily by a large strong network of opponents as soon as it leaves homeport and leaves the littoral shore.

If you feel you are so ahead (and think thats going to be some static situation in your Mao the Dung school of thought feelz),
why are your lot so obsessed with starting such threads? Follow
@utp45 advice on the matter, agree to disagree on what development/power/projection means, esp in snapshot times....and work to improve relations and
stop illustrating your desperation to paint yourself ahead (because only people that have inferiority complex of being behind do that to this level).
It is not like China got crushed into the dirt and stayed there even when it was at its worst (GLF mass starvation + cultural revolution mass death and oppression...or maybe taiping civil war....or maybe Japanese sino-playtime in 1930s), but you feel that only can apply to all others when they are doing way better now than China did at that point? Only China can change, but all others have to stay static....good CPC groupthink (more like non-think) "logic ".
