LUCKY: Injured Amer recovering at Saudi German Hospital.

A seven-year-old child who sustained stab wounds to the neck and hands after being attacked by his African housemaid in Asir is in stable condition.
Miteb Al-Amer, the child’s father, said he never noticed anything unusual about his Ethiopian maid.
Al-Amer said his son, Amer, was playing when the maid suddenly came from behind, put a knife to his neck and tried to slaughter him.

“His mother and aunt rushed to the room after hearing his sister’s screams, only to find the boy resisting the maid, who froze with the knife in her hand,” he said.
The aunt had carried the victim to a hospital some 34 km from their home with the help of her nephew, who called an ambulance.
They were met by paramedics half way through the journey.
The boy was taken to the Saudi German Hospital because there were no bed available in Asir Central Hospital.
Medical personnel operated on the boy to make sure the arteries, veins and vocal cords were not damaged.
The father said his son left the operating room after midnight. The family has been reassured by doctors, but the attending surgeon admitted the boy to the intensive care unit to allow the wound to heal and his condition to improve.
We received word of the incident on Thursday evening, said Ahmad Ibrahim, Asir Red Crescent press spokesman.
“A rescue team has been immediately dispatched,” he said.
Lt. Col. Abdullah Shathan, spokesman for the hospital, confirmed that the boy is still under observation.
The maid has been arrested and is being interrogated for motive.
Al-Amer said he could not hazard a guess for the motive behind the crime. “This maid was not the first I recruited and I never expected her to do such a thing,” said the father. “We treat her well and give her wages every month.”
The latest incident is one of many attacks perpetrated by housemaids on children left in their care.
Al-Amer called on the Labor and Interior Ministries to intervene and come up with dramatic solutions to spare children from such criminal behavior.
“Resolving this issue does not lie with citizens. It should be dealt with by higher authorities,” he said.

Of course we only hear about one-sided stories in the Western media and on PDF forgetting that both groups (the local abusers and foreign abusers) are a minority in KSA and elsewhere in the Arab world and the ME as a whole.

Thankfully many of the worst cases result in a death penalty for the foreign and local criminals.

. .
How these poor and helpless maids are treated by their rich employers aka 'owner' in KSA/Kuwait/UAE etc makes perfect sense for why she did that. Still, such actions are condemnable.

That's a twisted nanny.

Some people are really twisted indeed. A more pleasant news from today as well.

A Saudi journalist who was on a quest to find her childhood nanny has finally reunited with the woman who left the Kingdom 22 years ago.
Arab News’ sister publication Sayidaty magazine sponsored Rawan Radwan’s trip all the way from Jeddah to Manila.
“At first, I thought it was a joke when the magazine informed me that they would fly me out to the Philippines,” she said.
Radwan said: “I was very excited and counted the hours until I finally flew into Manila’s airport. Even then, I still couldn’t believe I was actually in the Philippines.”
She said: “The next day flew by fast as we toured the city, but I was extremely excited anticipating the meet between us.”
“Seeing her face as I walked toward her, I could see genuine love and I felt the same way,” she said.
“It was great to surprise her the way we did. It was an epic moment that I will never forget.”
Local Filipino show “Kapuso Mo Jessica Soho,” English for “one at heart,” organized a ceremony to recognize the accomplishment of Marie Luningning Bebit, now the only female town police officer, in combatting violence against women and children.
“I was given a great opportunity when I got to see the child that I helped raise over 20 years ago. I think I am being rewarded for my volunteer work,” said Marie.
“I am grateful for everything Rawan and her family had given me before and are giving me now. I will always remember them and will surely keep in touch,” she added.
It’s always great to meet people who are kind to their domestic workers, Jessica Soho, host of the leading news-magazine show in Philippines, told Arab News.
“Many of our countrymen work in Saudi Arabia and we usually only hear the negative stories. This is why it was very important for me to bring this positive experience to my audience.”
She said: “I think it touched and inspired a lot of us and it also somehow highlighted the heroism of our countrymen, especially mothers who leave their children behind and go to Saudi Arabia in search of a good job to provide for them.”
Radwan’s story went viral on Filipino social media sites, where people shared their positive thoughts and comments about the issue.
“Appreciating what ‘dada’ (Arabic for housemaid) did for them is the heartwarming story of the night,” said Arvin Castro, the show’s Facebook page administrator.
“We are really proud of this family and, of course, of overseas Filipino workers who are spending their time working abroad for their families,” he added.
Touched by the story, Saudi Arabian Airlines offered to sponsor the tickets to help Rawan reach her destination non-stop from Jeddah to Manila.
Rawan was also given a complimentary stay at the luxury Fairmont Makati Hotel in Manila.
According to Rawan, Marie still looks the same, only with shorter hair.
“I can see the same smile, the same kindness in her eyes and I still see the nanny who has lived with us for years under one roof,” she said.
“This trip was not only an amazing gift, but was also a learning experience for me. I was able to learn about Filipino culture by experiencing the local cuisine, attire, language, different landscapes and most importantly, the area where she lives. I got to see how beautiful and close-knit her community is,” she added.
Rawan and Marie pledge to continue communicating and reconnecting to make up for the years they were apart.

PREVIOUS STORY: Saudi woman’s quest for childhood nanny touches heart of a nation

Here comes our resident clown and strikes again by perpetrating a few incidents on a whole nation. I hope you are aware of the fact that nobody in this world treats workers worse than South Asians. In fact you have by far the most slaves per capita. I have seen how you guys treat each other in the GCC and Arab world. So you should keep quite. Let alone child labor which is a totally different and as serious matter.

Moreover there was no abuse involved with this housemaid like with 90% of all housemaids in KSA, the remaining Arab world and the ME as a whole. Just like her reaction, although there are more of such incidents, is still a tiny minority too.

Enough said really.

Everyone knows how miserably poor workers are treated in the oil-rich Gulf countries. The Internet is full of those stories (which I can post if you like) so I need no lesson from you. Please try to be civil (I know its difficult for an arrogant Saudi but still) when replying to someones reply. Mind you, I am NOT your slave.

@Aeronaut @WebMaster Please ask this member to behave and stop treating other members as if they are his slaves.

You act like a clown looking for trouble as usual when you comment on Arab matters on PDF. KSA is not a so-called Gulf county whatever that is.

Do I really need to say more? Look, genius if it was this bad in KSA we would not have MORE migrants than any other Muslim country on this planet. KSA is not Qatar. Learn that once and for all. Nor would we have dozens of satisfied Pakistani PDF users in KSA while we speak.

Lastly your slave remarks are a joke but it is truth that slavery was once widespread across the world and powerful people were involved in that, including Arabs. Now blame us for being very influential in the history of this world, Mr. Arab-hating fake "Syed". An oxymoron in itself but whatever.

PS: I love the fact that you can say that EVEN if a maid is denied payment and suffers from some often light beatings (which are a tiny minority and often the most serious offenses) it is ok for her to attempt to behead a defenseless child that had NOTHING to do with anything.

Your hatred for the 450 million or so Arabs is so obvious that its hilarious. What a joke.

Maybe she was motivated by the likes of ISIS who are funded by some rich Saudis.

You are more ignorant than I thought.

"Arab states of the Persian Gulf" or "Gulf Arab states" are terms that refer to the Arab states bordering the Persian Gulf, namely Kuwait, Bahrain, Iraq, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Ever heard of "Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf" of which KSA is a member?

this seems to be a domestic dispute... either the nanny is mentally challenged or something was done to her..
I cant believe she came from behind and ended up making a few gashes on the face and neck of the kid.. who wrote the story, father of the kid?

I love how you ignored my post. The truth hurts indeed Mr. fake "Syed".

Look, a name of an organization says nothing. Jordan and Yemen might become members in a few years yet none of them even border the Gulf. Do you understand that there is nothing called "Gulf region" historically?

The eastern area on the ARABIAN PENINSULA bordering the Gulf is a ancient historical region called Eastern Arabia that once was home to one of the oldest and longest flourishing civilizations on the planet, called Dilmun and others.

Eastern Arabia - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Dilmun - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Now KSA is a HUGE country - the size of Western Europe. Most regions in KSA do not even border the Gulf obviously. Only 200.000 people in KSA speak Khaliji Arabic. The notion "Gulf" is named after that dialect and the somewhat related cultures from Basra all the way to Oman although they vary between themselves in all of those regions.

Culture of Eastern Arabia - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Khaliji (music) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Gulf Arabic - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

There are only 200,000 Gulf Arabic speakers in Saudi Arabia, mostly in the coastal eastern province.[8][9] Gulf Arabic is distinct from Saudi Arabic.[8][9] Most Saudis speak Hejazi Arabic,Najdi Arabic and Bareqi Arabic dialects.[8][9]

Now some Pakistani migrant in the US is going to teach me about my regions history. What a joke. Please refrain from doing so in order not to become a joke here.

@al-Hasani : is there a chance the maid could face the death penalty?

There is a possibility of that as we are talking about a grave crime here. Attempted murder on a defenseless child. Anyway in the last 4 years only about 35 migrants have been executed and almost all of them either for murder or drug trafficking. It's hard to tell what will happen in this case. Probably KSA and Ethiopia will solve it together and find a deal. What you can be sure of though is that she is not going to be a nanny in KSA again.

I am sure that KSA will take all circumstances into account before deciding on the punishment.

This is very frightening and will cause many families to doubt their nannies, the vast majority of who have no intention of harming the children in their care, when there is no need to worry.

The only reason why I even made this thread is because I saw the news about this attempted murder of that child and a few minutes later I saw that nice story of that Saudi Arabian female journalist that embarked on a trip to the Philippines to met with her nanny after 22 years that I posted in post 4 in this thread.

Also because when this topic is discussed (migrants in KSA, GCC, Arab world and the ME as a whole) we always only hear about the negative stories. Often the same 2-3 videos and stories circulated again and again. So I thought we might as well show the other side of the story.

In any case both are a minority and as I said both the local and foreign criminals are ought to be condemned and punished equally which happens at a more and more increasing rate. Some 20-30 years ago when times were different locals could escape from not paying the housemaid for 2 months etc. Although such incidents still happen (like in Europe too) they are a clear minority.

Yet those clowns that propagandize anti-Arab nonsense on a daily basis here on PDF (often only South Asians) never seem to ask themselves how come KSA hosts more foreigners than any other Muslim country and how come there are so many Pakistani users on PDF that reside in KSA who never complain and mostly only have positive things to say.

Yet they insists on focusing on a few incidents (often the same again and again) and all the negative stories. It's pathetic obviously.

Me and my siblings had a Turkish nanny and although my family don't keep in touch with her we did a few years ago and both of the sides were more than satisfied with the experience and the Turkish nanny only had good things to say and fond memories. This is the case with most workers. Yet of course this is never heard.

Yes of course all Saudi people even children deserve to die, isn't that right? This guy finding excuses. "This poor maid stabbed the kid in the throat because of how badly treated by Saudis she was, so he deserved it". I will let you guys pass judgement in this post yourself.

They have the option not to come but instead she took her frustration on a child. The Saudis are really going to put the hurt on her, they're not sissies like Westerners.
