In my opinion,

CM meets with COAS to ensure that there remains no communication gap between his govt and army, i think PML(N) is politically moving ahead in close consultation with the army, and its the army which has held them back from going into long marches and rally for the best interest of pakistan.

because pakistan in the prevailing circumstances can't afford such political turmoil, when its army is fighting a war with enemies inside and outside the country simultaneously...

i beg to disagree - NS and his henchman ch Nisar are persona-non-grata as far as the army goes - they need to change their "rhetoric" against the army. SS is just a "messenger" of NS.

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Qamar Zaman Kaira on Wednesday brushed aside speculation regarding a change in the country’s military high command.

“There is no plan to change the chief of army staff,” he said while talking to the media after seeing off Prince Karim Aga Khan at the Chaklala Airbase.

The prince was visiting the country to review development projects being undertaken by the Aga Khan Development Foundation.

To a question on Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi’s visit to the US, Kaira said all political parties had given their views on the Kerry-Lugar bill, adding the foreign minister had gone to convey the views to the US administration.

CERTNLY zardari & co, is unhappy how the chief dictated them on the issue of KLR bill, but they are hidding it from media for sure, all the want is PAKARMY , go in to waziristan, where so called" militry experts" are ready to well come us, any major losses can result in COAS,s firing. its my personal opinion!

Army, nation one in war against terrorism: COAS

* Gen Kayani condemns attack at Peshawar’s Meena Bazaar

ISLAMABAD: The army stands with the nation in its resolve to defeat extremism and terrorism, said Chief of Army Staff Gen Ashfaq Kayani on Friday.

In a statement, the army chief condemned the recent attack at Peshawar’s Meena Bazaar. Gen Kayani also condoled with the families of victims of the Peshawar blast.

The army recently launched an offensive in South Waziristan to eliminate the Taliban, and it is widely believed that the recent surge in terrorist attacks is a backlash to that operation.

Three bomb attacks have been launched in Peshawar this month – including the one at Meena Bazaar, which killed at least 115 people. They are part of at least 10 major attacks in Pakistan, that have killed 250 people, either claimed by or blamed on the Taliban.

Most have targeted security forces, but some bombs have gone off in public places, apparently to undercut support for the army’s assault on the border and expose the weakness of the government.

Kayani raises ISAF border posts issue with McChrystal

RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Ashfaq Kayani on Monday took up the vacation of border posts by International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) troops with ISAF Commander General Stanley McChrystal.

A source privy to the meeting said the two officials exchanged views on the law and order situation in Afghanistan and the recent military offensive in South Waziristan. General Kayani briefed McChrystal on the operation. According to an Inter-Services Public Relations statement, the US general remained with General Kayani for some time and discussed matters of mutual interest.

Separately, Britain’s Chief of General Staff David Richard visited Gen Kayani at the military’s General Headquarters in Rawalpindi and discussed professional, bilateral and regional issues. General Richard also laid a floral wreath at Yadgar-e-Shuhada. A Pakistan Army contingent presented a guard of honour.

ISLAMABAD: Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Kayani on Wednesday visited the Gujranwala Garrison and attended a session of the army’s war games, organised to determine the operational preparedness of the formations. Earlier, on arrival in Gujranwala, the army chief was received by Corps Commander Lieutenant General Nadeem Taj.

Kayani condemns attacks on civilians

Militants are attacking innocent people out of frustration because they are incapable of confronting the military operation: Gen Ashfaq Parvez Kayani.

ISLAMABAD: Chief of the Army Staff Gen Ashfaq Parvez Kayani has condemned the recent spate of terrorist attacks on civilians and said that such acts of cowardice and frustration cannot frighten the people.

Gen Kayani, who was presiding over a conference of Corps Commanders at the General Headquarters on Wednesday, said militants were attacking innocent people out of frustration because they were incapable of confronting the military operation.

He said he was confident that the terrorist attacks would strengthen the nation’s resolve to eliminate the menace of terrorism in all its forms and manifestation.

He paid tribute to the officers and soldiers who had laid down their lives in the fight against terrorism.

Matters of operational preparedness and professional significance were discussed at the conference and the participants expressed satisfaction over the state of preparedness of the army and successful conduct of the Rah-i-Nijat operation.

A security official declined to comment when asked if the conference discussed a recent article by American journalists Seymour Hersh claiming that there was an informal understanding between US Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Admiral Mike Mullen and Gen Kayani to allow specially trained US forces to help Pakistan secure its nuclear arsenal in the event of a crisis.

The official, however, said there was no such understanding and Pakistan Army was capable of defending its nuclear assets.

He pointed out that the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee’s Chairman Gen Tariq Majid, who was the overall custodian of the nuclear assets, had already made a comprehensive statement ruling out any possibility of providing any foreign individual, entity or state access to the nuclear arsenal.

When asked to comment on a statement by US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton that Pakistan realised the need to go beyond South Waziristan, he said the successful operation had taken the security forces to a phase where they were consolidating their gains.

‘When we regain balance it starts radiating vibes around and the possibility of new options starts opening up, more than just a military operation’.

General Kayani prevented Zardari’s removal during long march: Rashid

LAHORE: Chief of Army Staff Gen Ashfaq Pervaiz Kayani did not allow certain political actors, who wanted to remove President Zardari, to go through with their agenda, Awami Muslim League (AML) chief Sheikh Rashid Ahmed said on Thursday. Chief Minister Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif had met the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) more than three times through General (r) Iftikhar, brother of opposition leader Chaudhry Nisar Khan, Rashid said in an interview with Shahzeb Khanzada in his programme ‘Newsline’. He added that those who thought the Punjab CM met the COAS without Nawaz Sharif’s permission were wrong. He said that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) wanted issues to persist in national politics so they could gain popularity. Replying to a question about the delay in the by-polls, Rashid said that the stay order of the Lahore High Court disappointed him, and he was hopeful that he would receive justice from the Supreme Court. He said whenever polls were delayed in the history of the country, it opened the door for “selection, not election”. He said that people who had sided with military dictators in the past should be held accountable.

Military operation in Swat successful: Kayani

Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Pervaiz Kayani says Pakistan is facing both internal and external challenges and the military is ready to ward off such threats.

Addressing the militarymen in Risalpur, Kayani termed the Swat operation a great success and says that security forces will flush the militants out of the country at any cost.

He says that the military is committed to go to any length in order to safeguard integrity and sovereignty of the country.

He lauded nation's support in fighting militancy especially in the restive regions of the country.
