COAS visits Gayari rescue mission site


RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Ashfaq Parvaiz Kayani visited forward locations in Gilgit-Baltistan on Wednesday to celebrate Eid with troops. Kayani also visited Gayari to meet troops committed in the recovery operation, which started as a relief and rescue effort, immediately after an avalanche that killed around 139 soldiers from the Northern Light Infantry Battalion along with six civilians on April 7 in Gayari Sector near Skardu. The mission has not stopped for a single day despite severe terrain and climatic conditions. online

Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General Ashfaq Pavez Kayani, hosted a dinner in the honour of war wounded Officers, Junior Commissioned Officers and Soldiers today.
These officers and soldiers are currently undergoing rehabilitation treatment at various medical institutes including Armed Forces Institute of Rehabilitation Medicine and Armed Forces Institute of Ophthalmology.
COAS lauded the sacrifices of war wounded persons and appreciated their spirit despite physical disabilities. He reiterated the Army’s resolve to ensure optimum efforts for rehabilitation of war wounded soldiers as well as families of Shuhada.

That was a true General like thing, major major morale boost.

BTW, you can also see some automated wheel chairs there, with the batteries and all.
