COAS leaves for Brussels to attend NATO meeting

RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Ashfaq Kayani left for Brussels on Tuesday at the special invitation of NATO Military Committee Chairman Admiral Giampaolo Di Paola, to participate in a meeting of army chiefs of different countries. Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said the military committee is the highest forum of NATO, which meets regularly to discuss various strategic issues. Kayani during his two-day visit will present Pakistan’s perspective on the security situation in the region and will also emphasise the need for a comprehensive approach to deal with the complex security situation. Kayani will also hold separate meetings with NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen and US Chairman Joint Staff Admiral Michael G Mullen to discuss matters of mutual interest. staff report
 
Kayani urges NATO to understand Pakistan strategy

BRUSSELS: Chief of the Army Staff General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani on Wednesday urged the need to enhance cooperation between the Nato and Pakistan army in intelligence sharing department to achieve success in terror war.

He expressed these views while addressing the meeting of Nato Military Committee in Brussels. The defense chiefs of 42 countries took part in the meeting to exchange views on Afghanistan’ security situation.

Speaking on this occasion, Gen Kayani said: “Pakistan and Nato need to extend more cooperation in intelligence sharing department.”

He said that NATO needed to understand Pakistan’s strategy to root out terrorism from Swat and Malakand region.

Gen Kayani also emphasized the need to increase Pakistan’s role on the solution of Afghanistan issue.

COAS Kayani attends NATO Military Committee Meeting BRUSSELS: The meeting of NATO Military Committee Meeting is underway here in NATO Headquarters on Wednesday, Geo news reported.

Military Chiefs of as many as 42 countries including Chief of Army Staff (COAS) of Pakistan General Ashfaque Pervez Kayani are attending the meeting.

COAS Kayani is briefing meeting attendees over Pakistan’s struggles being rendered to eradicate menace of terrorism from region.

The officials representing NATO and its allied forces fighting Taliban in Afghanistan are also present on the occasion.

COAS General Kayani also held meeting with NATO Secretary General on Tuesday and briefed him over military’s ongoing offensive against suspected Taliban militants in tribal South Waziristan Agency (SWA) in Pakistan.

NATO Secretary General also lauded Pakistan’s efforts on war on terrorism during sitting with Pakistan army chief.

Both Zaradri and Nawaz Sharif want Gen. Kiyani out but I am sure that Gen. Kiyani wil get extension insha-Allah.
