Changan to Launch Its SUV and Sedan in Pakistan Very Soon

Pictures of the Chang'an plant, where these vehicles are produced from

Pressing line: 1* 2400 ton pressing machine + 1* 1600 ton + 3* 1,000 ton

Components transported by AGV (automatic guided vehicle, the yellow one), so a higher transport efficiency and less labor cost

Welding shop, fully robotized, zero manual work

Components again transported by AGV (the smaller yellow one in the mid)

Assembly line, the painted car body transported via the automatic conveyor platform

The height of the platform could be adjusted automatically (decided by the specific car model and which components to be installed in the next step), therefore the worker could be working at a higher efficiency

The worker is tightening the screws with the screw-tightening machine. The torque required for each screw is pre-set and performed automatically, so it won't be too more, nor too less.

Assembly line is usually the step with the lowest automatic rate. But today, even the assembly line is gradually robotized. For example, the installation of the wind shield and glueing, it is done by robotics in the Chang'an plant.

Chassis (with engine, transmission, suspension, and braking system) on the AGV, to be transported to the assembly line, for the matching with the car body.

Tire and TPMS (tire pressure monitoring system) installation. Done by machine, with the pre-set torque scale.

After the assemble work, the vehicle needs to be put in many different tests. Here is the test of the painting quality. There are many different tests needed, but I don't have the pictures.

Hope these pictures could give you a better understanding on where Chang'an vehicles are coming from and how they are produced.

These cars are not sold bare bones trim level, probably different from India. Tax is probably higher too compared to India.

Alsvin is also not in the same size/weight class as the Yaris and City (sub-subcompact), it is a larger size, more Corolla level (subcompact).
Whoever gave you the idea that they are sold bare bones/trim travel, let him/her know that he/she is wrong. Taxes and currency value may be playing their role of-course. But still, the prices are double:(

(We dont have Alsvin here)

Have u read the features of the car? It has features available only in Grande and Civic Oriel. Evin altis and basic civic do not have features compared to alsvin.

Key features are cruise control, triptonic, automatic sunroof, automatic trunk opening, tyre pressure monitoring, parking radar, digital throttle control, car settings controlled from central console.

Now compare this with price of grande and civic oriel of 40 lacs vs 25 lacs.

None of these features are available in top variant of yaris rs. 30 lac and city rs. 28 lac.

Are those prices with Tax - considering these cars are assembled in Pakistan ?

What is the Tax for locally assembled new cars vs. imported new cars ?

Pakistan will export these cars to other countries that have right hand driving . Win win situation there

This car actually lacks the 2 main features I would look for in a Sedan i.e Vehicle Control Stability and Hill Assist, rest are just complementary IMO.

and please, if Chinese cars were so good then they would be among the top-selling cars in China at least. Guess who are the top automobile selling brands in China? its Volkswagon, Honda and Toyota. Not to mention the Chinese cars actually perform the worst in terms of Crash test ratings worldwide.

Even FAW V2 had features, then why it failed? Simple, the Build quality, After sales and Resale value accounts for a lot in Pakistan atleast.. and before you mention, these 17,000 pre bookings that they did were without any advance payments..

Your choice. However many of the buyers dont consider hill start as a compulsory feature unless u r loving on a hill station for which sedan itself is not a suitable cars.

With respect to FAW, it was FAW brand manufacture by Al-Haj as compared to changan which itself has shareholding and hence manufacturing the vehicle.

For japnese car sales in japan your information is incorrect as they represents around 20% market only.

With respect to booking changan is already booked till may and booking is closed. So 5 month production booked with advance in just 4 days.
By the way which car in this category is oferring vehicle stability control feature

Can any one explain whether any true replacement of Mehran in affordable price shall come or not.
Not in short term but in medium teem it will. Actually margin in these smaller vehicle is very low.in order ro compete with suzuki one has to drop quality to the likes of suzuki which no new entrant want. Once mature and economies of scale achieved new entrants willbring smaller hatch back as well

Japanese cars are the most reliable cars in the world but the Japanese cars that are made in Pakistan are absolute dogshit.

Even top of the line iPhones are made in China. Heck this year Tesla just launched their massive factory to build EVs in China.

I think days of Chinese products being considered inferior are gone. It's no longer the case of 'chal gaya tu chand tak, warna sham tak'.
actually u are slightly wrong in saying chinese products were inferior, actually they give u the quality that u ask them 2... we wanted cheaper goods and i mean real cheaper goods, they gave us just that . example electronics, well the same appliance u can get in like multiple grades... a friend of mine visited china just for the same, and damn he was blown away at wat was dere and this i am talking about somewhere in 2011 or so. the stuff u get mostly in Pakistan, india, Bangladesh and this belt is not wat they give to Europe and rest of the developed world including US. its all about wat u ask for... to imagine it, ask ur friends living in US or Europe, they will have a very different story to tell.
As for cars in particular china was way behind like a decade ago, but they really caught up to the world in last 5 years or so... this was actually one of the industries china covered the gap a bit late...
