CFO of Chinese tech giant Huawei arrested in Vancouver, sought by U.S. for extradition

Again Huawei is not under US jurisdiction. The only obligation it has is a contract with a US company.

Huawei used American-made chips, which are certainly under US jurisdiction. A contract must've been signed.

American made anything doesn't give you jurisdiction. It would be ridiculous that anything a country made that you use will bring you under its jurisdiction. Nor would any contract between two private companies give the government such power.

If Huawei signed a contract agreeing not to export these to sanctioned countries, which I'm sure it did as a prerequisite to importing US-made SoCs, then that does bring the company under US jurisdiction especially when US national security & safety is compromised.

Huawei signed contract with the US government? Again a contract with US company doesn't bring you under US jurisdiction. You keep on bring up national security, but that's not the concern of any foreign entity, nor can you prosecute any of them based on that, or US would be able to prosecute directly any Iranian companies under its law.

As long as the us Dollar the global reserve currency ... The Chinese cannot do anything... They are Americas little bit<h ... They are dependent on the Americans. Trump knows this... And the Chinese will be put into their place back as the global backwater...

However, when the dollar falls and is no longer the world reserve currency... All bets are off... And China wins because they are the more productive nation.

From the beginning Huawei is suspect, how can a company be trusted when led by a former Pla man? I don’t buy Huawei shares but bought Tencent. Now it is in deep red territory, -22 percent this morning now -27 percent, I am losing money :(
You spew so much China hate but you are interested in making money off big successful Chinese tech companies? That seems contradictory to me.

The honest truth is you are correct. US can overpower CHina economically, but just barely enough. China is economically weaker, but not economically weak.

 I dare to bet with you. Even in another 20years time. Vietnam will not have a single aircraft carrier. China don't even need to wait 10 years and we have already near 3 aircraft carriers joining us in another 3 years time. :enjoy:
Vietnam ALWAYS follows China foot steps, be language, cuture, custom, economy, government system or military. Having aircraft carrier is not a question of "if" but "when".

. .
First the lie low policy has out lived it's usefulness. During Deng time China's economy was small and china could lie low.
China in fact has been very restrain.

Just take the media. Is there a need to keep boasting 厉害了我的国 虽远必诛 etc? You're just giving excuses for other countries to be wary of you. What actual purpose does it serve other than to shift the focus away from domestic economic pressure? Nationalistic blood shoots up your brain, and then so what?

Why Vietnam even need any aircraft carrier?
Quite unneccessary.
But if you like...

A new strategy:
If you can not compete his company, arrest his daughter!

There is no domestic economic pressure. It's all an illusion. Making less money is not a catastrophe. There are good days. There are bad days. Such is life.

The threat comes from certain people who want to disrupt the state if they do not have one good day after another. They are trouble makers and must be physically purged.

In other words, the objective is to purge all those who think less than 10% GDP growth per year is a catastrophe. After those people are purged, the country can develop normally. Even if growth falls to 0% it's perfectly fine. Not the end of the world.

Look at India. A total shithole with GDP only 1/6 of China. They are all so pleased with themselves. So there is and can never be domestic economic pressure. There can only be people who are too greedy.
