You have to be more active economically. Then you may have a chance about discourse making.

For instance, connectivity is very important. How connected Turkey is to the region and beyond?

You are arguing about being a geographic bridge, right?

Biggest Economic partners of Turkey are Europe, Middle East, Africa and Russia. Now take a map and look for these regions and their proximity to Turkey. Further, may be you have heard this concept Far East Asia right? concentrate on the word '' Far'' try to grasp the meaning of it and then work on 3 more words; Bridge - connectivity - Far!

Far East for the Europeans. For us, it is just here. In fact, Europe seems to be "far," although, with over 40 rail routes from Mainland China, it is now not that far.

You can take a globe, put any region in the center, and it looks like important. In the end, the problem with respect to trade communication is not the lack of available geographic passages, it is lack of political and economic trust, communication and integration.

To be in the geographic core of the globe does not help if a country is politically and economically marginalized.

sory but you are simply not able to grasp the main issue here and you are contradicting with yourself! The question you should ask to yourself is Why China have a container ship fleet? & why is the need? hopfully it is not to much to expect from you to realize the geographical position of China in regard to goegraphical postios of her biggest economic partners for instance USA or Europe. historically China had connectivity problem that is why we had silk road or now a huge container ship fleet which Turkey does not in need of because of it close proximty to her economic partners. in this sense asking ''How connected Turkey'' ? is a very silly question to ask. as I wrote try to work on 3 words; Bridge - connectivity - Far!

Because China happens to be the largest trading nation in the world. With over 3.5 trillion USD in annual merchandise trade, China needs ships. Most of the global trade is carried out on ships. If China does not own them, it has to hire others. In the end, exports and imports need to continue.

Beside, you can also carry other nations' goods and earn money from the service. Freight business comes with an ecosystem: AI (China has the world's first full AI port), insurance, shipbuilding etc.

Otherwise, how to make money?

If it is just geography, how about Greece?

They have a huge container fleet because they are geographically isolated?

China is very close to its economic partners, too.

Our trade with Japan is about 300 billion USD. With Korea, 230 billion USD. With India, over 100 billion USD. With Vietnam, 150 billion USD. With ASEAN, 600 billion USD. They are all China's next door.

Still, you need a fleet even to send stuff to next door Japan.

If you do not have shipping fleets, then you will have trucks, for instance, which is more costly, dirtier, and less efficient.

ok you are boring! If you can not understand what I say I hope at least you understand what you wrote! you need a fleet even to send stuff to next door ( Japan or Korea!) And We dont! simple right?

Depends on the size of your exports.

Maybe you found other miraculous ways

Normally, you either have a fleet of your own, or hire Maersk, China Shipping Company, etc.

Having a strong fleet means connectivity. Lack of means less-connectivity. Lack of does not mean you have a wonderful geographic position.

In case of China yes in case of Turkey we are not in need of a huge fleet to send stuff to next door! or if you like you may try to open a shipping line From Turkey to Iraq, Iran:devil: or may be Germany! We happened to be located just next to oil rich midle east and Europe with land conection i.e with in a day or two you can reach to Berlin or to Bagdad
