Hello
I know there are quite a few doctors and possibly psychiatrists around here so thought why not create a thread to seek professional advice
Since last 1 year I have been having nightmares almost every night and often 1-4 times per night... The sleep has been so disturbed and I literally am so fed up that I really want to find a solution to this problem
The problem begin after the death of my father almost 1 year ago but I strongly believe it is not due to that as I am usually not thinking about him and even if I am in very good mood, I would often wake up each night because of the nightmare and then try to sleep again (usually sleep quickly within 2-5 minutes) and then ready to watch next episode of nightmares
Its like I have seen hundreds of nightmare since past 1 year if not thousands
What to do really?
I once did go to the doctor but she didn't take it that seriously... didn't feel like going again as I am seriously thinking to change my GP since past many years
Nightmares are also also closely related to your health condition
stuff that contributes to nightmare
1- Eating tremendously late and greesy food i.e Oily rich in cholestrol like chicken brest or red meat obviously stuff made with Tones of oil
2- Blood pressure rises abnormally due to salty food at night nightmares are a way for body to send signals to you
you need to change your diet or check blood pressure , do you excercise enough
3- Normally after a major life changing event people do experience a natural rise in tension
Food digestion problem in stress , mean that your body does not processes heavy food as they used to prior to life changing events. Switching to more natural diet does aids people to avoid problems related to disgestion which also tend to indirectly cause sleeping problems (worried sleep or headaches in night)
Unfortunately our all dishes are super tasty and oily , and takes great amount of dicipline to manage this aspect , you might even have to experiment not eating Tandoori roti and switch to whole wheat based diet for few weeks to see if you are intolorent of normal white flour (used commonly in Pakistan)
In a given 7 day cycle do daily
1- Stop oil food intake
2- Eat clean vegetables , plus boiled chicken or may be simple fruits 1-2
3- If you have to eat roti eat whole wheat
4- Make rule to walk 30 minutes daily no matter what either in morning or after sunset 60 minutes
is ideal for bike ride or walking.
5- Cut off chemical sugar drinks (Pepsi , Cola , Stuff commonly used in Pakistan Rooh Afzah etc)
Normally Acidity is one aspect that develops in people with great amount of stress , so what folks do is they start depending on acidity reducing medicine "ENO" or other remedies
This is similar to a case where you have "Room" on fire and you throw a bucket of water 1 time quickly into the room it temporarily solves the issue but not the real problem
However , over long period of usage , these remedies help raise blood pressure as such remedies increase salt levels in your body
Chemical Explaination
Baking Soda (also known as sodium bicarbonate) used in anti acidity meds
As it mixes with the hydrochloric
acid in the
stomach,
baking soda triggers a chemical
reaction the products of which are salt (
NaCl, or sodium chloride), carbon dioxide (CO2), and water. The water is harmless, and the carbon dioxide is released as a gas, producing a familiar burp once the
acid is neutralized
Too much of this extra salt which start to accumulate with daily intake of "anti acidity meds" contributes also to your rasing blood pressure which most people don't consider.
They say a healthy person never have to depend on these off the counter meds for more then 1 or 2 days in 365 day cycle
