In western democracies, they don't keep you as your subjects.. that time has gone. They did that to the world and then reversed their position.. granted independence to their subject colonies..

Which U.N charter gives all nations the right to self-determination? As far as I know there is no such charter. First of all UN is not elected by people so there is no question of UN having that kind of sweeping mandate. It is grouping of world nations...no less and no more.
