The Indians in Fiji all interrmarried, thus caste system was abolished. We did not simply care. It's a bastard system, and we will have no part in it. My personal experience against caste discrimination was when I was confronted by a rather enraged Indian chap who tried to spit at me outside of a bar in New Zealand. This was because I was Fijian-Indian and apparently they see us as low castes because we're not from India(because the british took us as slaves, thus we're automatically considered the worst caste). He was struck with an extensive force right where that saliva came from. You want my resolution. I say, the hell with it. Just stop believing caste system as a whole. I'll get back to you once I've convinced my brothers in India.

though your statements are right,
i have to accept that there is always two sides for a coin, when democracy has this vote bank politics, Democracy is the sole factor that has made possible that the minorities of the nation are well organized to raise their voice. had it not been there there is ample chance that hardliner of the majority might have diluted the minority as like in PAKISTAN,
no one religion can be a tourch bearer of humanity, thats the reason INDIA has had leaders from all society and all caste.

What happened in kerala can be replicated across India. What needs to be done is to devise policies engineered to change the age old social perceptions and prejudices.

It can be done without provoking mass conversion of dalits into Buddhism or some other religion.

you should have not only hit his mouth but should have burnt it. any way as a Indian, i and educated young generations do not have such creepy mentality. may be this is some thing that the fool did not learn in INDIA on how to evolve

How do you use the Caste System to find labour?

For example people bringing water is one group. stone cutters is another group.
warriors belong to another group. It stressed on gene protection and gene specialization.

What I see, main fault is India has given legal stats to cast system by reservations. According to this system equality differs to each other.

reservation was necessary at the time of INDEPENDENCE, and it was planned to cut down as time progressed. but unfortunately this became a political weapon in the hands of CONGRESS and other political parties.
we had to pay or give rights to the people who were oppressed for a very long time by our fore fathers who missed the value of division based on the 4 categories as quality developed over time into a blood line trait.

But then 80% of Indians have their same skin colour, so how can you tell the difference between an Indian and a Dalit?

Reservation for scheduled caste people were and still is a major necessity.

However, reservation for Muslims and Christians were totally un-necessary. It defeats the whole purpose.

Also un-necessary was validating personal laws instead of introducing a uniform civil code.
