We have many system and long back tested and demonstrated our capability of shoot down any drone operated by US but the decision must be taken by Govt or GHQ.
And for my Indian friends who are not satisfied ask any technical question about our Air Defense System i would like to explain them.

HQ-2,HQ-9 and HQ-16

  • HQ-2: Upgraded HQ-1 with additional ECCM capability to counter the System-13 ECM aboard U-2s flown by Republic of China Air Force Black Cat Squadron. Upgraded HQ-2s remain in service today, and the latest version utilizes Passive electronically scanned array radar designated SJ-202, which is able to simultaneously track and engage multiple targets at 115 km (71 mi) and 80 km (50 mi), respectively. The adoption of multifunction SJ-202 radar has eliminated the need to have multiple, single-function radars, and thus greatly improved the overall effectiveness of the HQ-2 air defense system. A target drone version is designated BA-6.

i was talking about MANPADs

get my point sir :azn:

We also have FM90, Spada and HQ7. The above mentioned is the max ceiling of those drones. Anza can intercept upto 6Km.
well sir try google there is no surface to air MANPAD with more than 5Km service cieling today and sure you have regular sams that can bring down drones but the problem is niether your security establishment nor the ruling/politcial elite are willing to sanction or take such a step specially against USA or CIA as they are "resilient by choice"

Keeping in mind the statement of one of pakistan minister that they lacks capability to hit american drones a question arises can't these predator drones be hit by fighter planes or any air defense system.
Shooting US drone is more politicle than military. Way back CAS PAF has categorically mentioned that if given order we can shoot any drone.

And my sources tell me its something more than just SAMs or F-16s/JF-17s that PAF has in its arsenal as option to bring down any drone.

There are some interests and some agreement between Musharaf Govt, even they (US/CIA) allowed using our Shamsi airbase to carry out strikes inside our territory against the Taliban / Al Qaida.

mazerat ke saath sirji i guess pakistani parliament had already passed bills condemming drone strikes more than once its up to security establishment to take the call and do whats required cause its not the job of polticians to handle sam systems or is it :azn:

They choose to protest the strikes politically, our air Chief categorically said after the demonstration of shooting down the drones that "we show the capability and its up to the Govt to take the decision."

They had passed resolution against Salala too but it was military who had closed the NATO supply back then. So Sir the resolution was just of condemnation...not the orders to shoot down the drone and such orders come from the PM over here.

hasnt the parliament of pakistan already passed such a motion way back in 2013 why were the militarry not taking any actions since then ?

Musharaf is no more in power but Pakistan Govt still in place and that type of agreements happens between the two Govts. US is big supplier of military hardware and funds so you can say the have the privileges.

With Deu regards major saheb we all know who takes the call on such issues in Pakistan but even then i rest my case and thanks for a meaningful dialog ... thanks again .... cheers mate :coffee:

Does they work at a height of 60,000 feet or above???
drones operate at a cruising altitude of 25000 ft, yes they have a service ceiling of 50k+ft but i doubt you will see the doing air strikes at that altitude
