What's new

Can’t keep waiting for stealth fighter, India tells Russia

only option would to be to double down or even triple down on spending to get FGFA quicker :undecided:
Russians are in no rush for Pak-FA they know slow and steady is the best option.

I've stated previously that its better for India to focus its energies on Tejas and AMCA. Tejas has been an ugly lab experiment, but surely valueable lessons have been learnt. It would've been ideal if IAF bought Gripen NG and also adopted SAAB into both Tejas and AMCA program as a partner.

India should definitely re up and start the AMCA, and not leave a gap like with Marut, for sure.

We have seen Dhruv example and it's offsprings. Each project, though different, are having a shorter developmental cycle.

Same will happen with FICV and FMBT. What's great now is more private players like TATA, Mahindra, L&T, etc are getting serious and a solid foundation is built.

And I'm certain that daussault has this figue out. Both the French and Russia re squeezing India dry. And India can't do anything but getting shafted again and again.

Our money, our effort, our security not your ancestral property. You dont need to worry about it .I hope you can understand.

If the funding is not the issue the technology is. Russia may be struggling with producing a jet with satisfactory performance parameters. If it really gets delayed till 2024 then the IAF needs Rafale. However when rhe french find this out, they may as well hike the price again.

But French cannot raise price beyond competing Eurofighter's offer. It is Eurofighter's price which is tempering French, not prospective FGFA.

Indian dhotis are open, crying after only Pakistan looks to buy PAK FC-31 / J-31....lots of hue and cry on speeding up India's foreign fifth generation jet without putting money....India can only speedup paint job.

But we dont have time to spend. Now we have money for purchasing.IAF cant wait for further reduction in their squadrons level.AMCA would find its way out only after 2030.LCA is a delayed success now we have our own fighter.

Then you ask why the French are charging you an arm, a leg and a testicle for Rafales?

The elephant shupa powa shows Putin its muscle!

And Scarred with Sophistication of Indian weapons, your country rushed to Russia for Su 35 and submarine purchase after venting a lots of brain fart of superiority of Chinese copied weapons over Russian weapons.

Because half of that $16 billion or so will be thrown right back into India as offsets.

This will have unimaginable positive consequences down the line for India.

Look at how many companies benefit from Brahmos, can you imagine Rafale?

It's not just the plane, but steroids for Indian aviation.

ToT is not an issue in Rafale deal.It is a clause for taking responsibility of fighters developed by HAL.That is the main issue.Dassault Rafale offset agreement is 50% .Means if we spend 20 billion ,10 billion will return to the our own market.
Rafale dont have any other customers. So price may slightly higher but less EFT .But we will get necessary ToT.

Or it might kill India's indigenous defence industries.

If we were happy to only buy foreign goods like Sony and Apple, then what would happen to our own indigenous companies like Lenovo?

Indigenous industries need a chance, and enough capital to become great. If their own country prefers foreign products, what can they do?

There isnt much other than ancient HAL in the aerospace sector. Previously private firms could only dream of something like this --

Reliance, Dassault planning facility to produce wings for Rafale | Business Line

From the many companies(big and small) all across India benefiting from the shared technology, could rise India's own future Thales, or Finmeccanica, etc, etc. down the line. At least build a strong supply chain that was never there when Tejas was sanctioned money in the 90s.

They are getting a chance(like never before), many of these companies you didnt hear of 10 years ago will be producing French avionics, etc.
