F-16s have proprietary source codes for the fighters weapons systems. Till today, only Turkey has been given US congressional approval to automatically modify the software source codes of the fighters weapons systems with national software source codes.
Turkey has become the first nation among 26 who have the F-16s in their inventories, to have the ability to receive information on the F-16 fighters software source codes thereby enabling it to replace them with their own software source codes whenever necessary.
In other words, any F-16s weapon systems can be rendered ineffective as and when the Americans like. That sucks, what?
Turkey has limited access to the IFF module only. The rest of the software is not accessible to Turkey. Only Israel has greater access to some other portions, but even they cannot access the entire software suite.
