I don't quite remember last time Russians lost in history, yes they may have done a tactical retreat but maintained their core territory and strength

US / Russian engagement would be 100% nuclear war and the one who strikes first would be victor by 80% ratio

The nation that does the secondary strike from Submarine or Sea would only make marginal gains but once they would be detected it would be sweeping victory for the nation that strikes first

Luckily for Humans and animals , and plants the effects of radiation wear off after 60 years , 3 generations, and things will be back to normal

Earth population is due for a reset anyways too many people eating up resources

While the OP (This is an idiot threat to begin with) state a war with RUSSIA and yet, the some reply are comparing them to WW2 era when Germany invaded SOVIET RUSSIA. People need to know this.....

Russia is a single country. Population : 143 millions and 17 million Kilometres2
Soviet Russia is a collective 28 (or 29, depending on how you count) modern day country and territories.

United States of America : Population 343 millions nearly 10 millionskm2

These 2 entity is entirely different. Also put into a fact that Germany is WW2 is not USA today. And the closest coring point between US and Russia is less than 300 miles from Alaska. So even a land warfare will not be very hard to resupply.

The point is Russia only have half (or sometime less than half) of what it used to be when they are still Soviet Russia. With Ukraine and Belarus gone, it lost a GREAT CHUNK of its industrial and scientific power. Russia cannot support a war within its own home soil for anywhere more than 30 days both from a financial and resource point of view (Just look at how ruble depreciate after the start of Ukraine crisis, if they start a war in Russia, it will destroy the value of Ruble)

Resource wise, Russia have less of a population than the US and have less arable land than in the US, how can they hold on for a continuous assault you supposed??

I would have to say, even China can defeat Russia in Russian home soil, LET ALONE the US

If the US fights Russia, no other NATO country is bound by treaty to help the US. I would also expect arms supply to Russia from China in such as scenario.

US soldiers lack the coverage big time. Pentagon funded research for coverage pills in battle field but so far it seem to have failed.

US warfare relies on equipment. It is one thing to fight with small prey like Iraq by bombing from sky, cruise missiles, drones, etc. It is another thing to fight Russia with the equipment and numbers. Secondly US has military presence quite a bit far away from home. It will not take long for Russia to destroy the carriers around the gulf region. After that a conventional war between US and Russia will be a hopeless stalemate.

US and Russia will not fight a nuclear war bar any false flag by Israel to make the fight each other.
