CAN INDIA COUNTER EMERGING CHINESE CAPABILITIES LIKE STEALTH AIRCRAFT?

With more weapons carrying capacity and standoff munitions capability J-20 in numbers (in NCW environment) can create hell for Indian air force and air defense, even S-400 will feel the heat and most will be taken out.

Rather than slandering F-35 you should plan on convincing us to sell those to you. There are no alternative options for you on the table other than F-35s.

We have a few other options. India has been offered the F-35. So if we have to buy the F-35, we only have to ask for it.

You are struggling to make a replacement for your Mig-21s for the last three decades and lecturing here about the issues with the most sophisticated fighter on the planet. If nukes can fight nukes, why can't stealth fight stealth. It sure can and will deter your opponent from taking the battle to you with confidence.

The conditions for the Mig-21 replacement are different. They are going through a long process via tendering. That won't be the case for stealth options.

On basis do you say that Chinese J-20 would be able to take out S-400? There no evidence that even F-35s could break into S-400 defenses though we have been simulating. The problem for India is that Russia is unwilling to sell S-400s. So this scenarios of Chinese J-20s going against Indian S-400s is irrelevant.

Forget the basic S-400. The Russians have offered us the entire gamut of S-400 capabilities, including 2 new missiles that have not been offered to China. They have even offered to provide the source codes for integration of the S-400 with India's C&C.

Not to mention, we will also be license producing the missiles in India.

Why do we need the capabilities of an F-35 for a policy of MAD? Then we might as well build missiles and put them on aircraft and submarines, as well as in land-based installations, and ensure that a nuclear attack on us will inevitably lead to retaliation. It's either about defence, or a defensive-offensive doctrine. Neither needs an F-35.

How do you employ offensive in your defensive-offensive? If you do not need F-35s, then you do not need SU-30s and Rafales either. Just invest in Air defenses systems and be done with.

Those are not for use against China, military genius.

Why are you blethering? The S-400 deal is over.

India's last remaining option is the F-35.

The problem is that they are at the back of the queue, they will fill all the current orders first (especially from project partners like the UK), then the orders they have now, and when India finally gets around to ordering the F-35, how long do you think it will take to arrive?

Yeah S-400 deal is dead. Time to sing the requiem.

India is at the end of the line for F-35s, S-400s & Rafales.

Indian procurement process is a big joke.

Nothing's been linked to anything. Indian media makes up stories most of the time. And IDRW is one of the worst sources ever, it's not even a source in fact, just a copy-paste junk website.

FGFA is not connected to S-400. Indian-Russian relations are far too mature for such links. It's because if Russia starts playing politics with India, then India can too. It's the buyer's market after all, India has other sources, including its own three stage BMD program.

The only thing India needs to do is put the money in indigenous systems and stop changing goal posts........imagine a pizza being made in oven and the customer is demanding new toppings after seeing every other pizza around him, the pizza is taken out and then put in again, and its about 30 years, the pizza is burnt, its so burnt that the customer doesnt like it.....so who is to be blamed? LCA was good concept in 1990's.....

India is not going to order the F-35, at least the IAF won't. It's not good enough for operations in India yet. In case the IAF buys the F-35, it will have to be with next generation engines that provide extra thrust.

IN may be interested because there will only be Rafale-M and F-35C available for carriers by the time they are interested. But it doesn't guarantee F-35s victory there. Even IN will need next gen engines.

China is not a serious military threat to India yet. Maybe after 2040.

Yeah S-400 deal is dead. Time to sing the requiem.

The opposite. Pre-contract work has already started.

It will take forever for India to get F-35. But it's India's only realistic chance of getting a stealth jet. PAKFA is not going to happen. So neither is AMCA. Unless China is going to sell its j series to India, F-35 is the only choice.

Indian procurement process is a big joke.

India haggles over price at the wrong time and on small stuff. While it got screw over on big ticket items. Two quotes come to mind,

"Penny wise, pound foolish" and

"The cheap becomes expensive"

India is hoping to get some little savings while ignore the big ticket rip offs such as the carriers screw over. In the end, India's air defense suffers and India have to pay premium, get little TOT, and get back to the end of line.
