What's new

Cameron's inflammatory comments against Pakistan: I meant Pakistanis are terrorists..

Guys, don't worry, this is typical of any politician who tours India. Just let the tour finish, the whole thing will be forgotten and he will probably 'clear up' his statement.

.
This comming out of a PM has a lot more face-value than some fanboys on net ...think about it

By the same token, Musharraf has also publicly accused India of doing terrorism on numerous occasions. And before you say that cameron is neutral party, let me make it very clear that he very much is not a neutral party as his state is involved in the war and they have interests there.

And also, by the same token, MMS has accused Pakistan.

Just because they're heads of state, doesn't mean what they say automatically becomes true.

Sure, maybe it will get more attention, but without proof, the accusations are pointless.

The link you provided was not credible.
India has 8 times bigger economy than Pakistan and 6.6 times bigger population,so that means the earning of an average Indian is better than a Pakistani and yes search on Wiki for that.

And keep Kashmir out of discussion cuz you daydreamers will never get what you aspire for Kashmir.
Better not to derail the topic.
P.S-Whats so bad in accepting the truth?
Doesn't Pakistan export terrorists?
The attempt of bombing in New York,26/11,etc were all linked with Pakistan,so i don't find anything wrong in what the Brit PM said.

What utter overly simplistic post.

You ever heard of GINI, income equality? It's better in Pakistan, hence there's less poverty in Pakistan.

But that's that, you went off-topic and I hope you avoid doing that.

As far as New York, 26/11 is concerned, you're not distinguishing between state involvement and non-state involvement.

Karzai Claims Mystery Helicopters Ferrying Taliban to North Afghanistan
The British Army was responsible for relocating Taliban fighters with Chinook helicopters to the northern provinces from Helmand province in south Afghanistan (though this might come as a surprise to critics of the UK’s Ministry of Defence, who have suggested the military has not provided enough transport helicopters to meet British needs – BBC, August 30).

He isn't the Pakistani FM who alters his speeches depending on his venue.

Armchair experts are rife on this forum.

Someone doesn't know the nature of the politicians.

When a leader of the stature of British PM speaks then generally the entire world listens!!
Have that in your mind.

You mean listen to this:

A Downing Street spokeswoman said that the prime minister was not accusing the Pakistan government of exporting terrorism.

"The prime minister is not saying the Pakistan government is a sponsor of terrorism. But he is saying, and has said previously, that the Pakistan government needs to do more to shut terror groups down."

What's wrong here?

Here comes the result of that speech
BEA won a defence contract worth $775 million...

India to sign $775 million jet deal with British defence group BAE Systems
REUTERS, Jul 28, 2010

NEW DELHI: British defence group BAE Systems will supply 57 Hawk jet trainers to India's air force and navy, Indian defence ministry officials said on Wednesday, a contract potentially worth $775 million.

The deal will boost British defence firms looking to break into the huge Indian defence market mostly controlled by Russian, US and Isreali companies.

New Delhi plans to spend $100 billion over the next decade to overhaul its Soviet-era defence system.

BAE will supply 40 trainer jets to the air force and the remainder to the navy.

The contract between BAE Systems and state-run Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) will be signed on Wednesday in the southern city of Bangalore, where British Prime Minister David Cameron is currently visiting, the official said in New Delhi.

"The deal is a sign of closer defence ties between the two countries," a defence ministry official said.

Cameron, who is on his first visit to India since taking office in May, leads a delegation including six ministers and more than 30 senior executives from top UK firms, to show that Britain is serious about boosting economic exchanges with the Asian giant.

The deal for 57 Hawk advanced jet trainers (AJTs) is a follow-on deal after India bought 24 such jet trainers from BAE Systems in 2008.

India says it needs at least 180 training jets over the next few years.

India's air force officials said the advanced jet trainers, fitted with engines made by Rolls-Royce Group Plc, will help Indian pilots fly new generation fighter jets.

New Delhi began field trials last August to buy 126 fighter jets in a $11-billion deal to modernise its air force. Lockheed Martin's F-16 is competing with Boeing's F/A-18 Super Hornet, France's Dassault Rafale, Russia's MiG-35, Sweden's Saab JAS-39 Gripen and the Eurofighter Typhoon, produced by a consortium, for securing the deal.

Oh dear, there goes the Indian hot air down the drain and incomes the stream of tears.:lol:

I mentioned it will take a few days for his statement to be 'clarified'. It didn't even take one day.:lol:

That was already decided, you think being swayed by a single speech,GOI will spend $775 million for buying 57 jets?Isn't your post kiddish?

And I thought British interests were coinciding with pak's interests vis-a-vis WOT.

Obviously not ..but being a head of the state, he is privy to information, that we as net warriors don't.

Plus being from a third country..his comments can not be clubbed as nationalism.

Sure, maybe it will get more attention, but without proof, the accusations are pointless.

How much more proof do you require???...and what proof do you require??

W are running a campaign for Sky TV here, Its called 'AND THEY LIVE HAPPILY EVER AFTER'.

Clarifications are to be expected but this is what he said:

He then went on: "We should be very, very clear with Pakistan that we want to see a strong, stable and democratic Pakistan.
“We can not tolerate in any sense the idea that this country is allowed to look both ways and is able, in any way, to promote the export of terror, whether to India or whether to Afghanistan or anywhere else in the world.
“That is why this relationship is important. It should be a relationship based on a very clear message: that it is not right to have any relationship with groups that are promoting terror.
“Democratic states that want to be part of the developed world cannot do that. The message to Pakistan from the US and the UK is very clear on that point."
Mr Cameron’s words followed an already-robust warning for Pakistan in his speech.
He was applauded warmly as he told the audience of workers at a technology firm: “When it comes to protecting our people, we can not overlook what is happening in Afghanistan and Pakistan.
“We – like you – want a Pakistan that is stable, democratic and free from terror.
“We – like you – want an Afghanistan that is secure, free from interference from its neighbours and not a threat to our security.
“We – like you – are determined that groups like the Taliban, the Haqqani network or Lakshar e Taiba should not be allowed to launch attacks on Indian and British citizens in India or in Britain.
“Nor against our people, whether soldiers or civilians, from both our countries who are working for peace in Afghanistan.”
Lakshar e Taiba is a Pakistan-based terrorist group which opposes Indian rule in Kashmir, while the Haqqani network has close links to the Taliban.
Downing Street said that there had been a “historic” issue about elements within the Pakistan government which had links to terrorist groups, which ministers in Islamabad had themselves acknowledged.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mr Cameron was asked about Pakistan in an interview with BBC Radio 4's Today programme.
"The point I was simply making in response to a question this morning is that we have to be clear in our dealings with the Pakistanis - as we are and the Americans are - that it is unacceptable for any support to be given from within Pakistan for any terrorist organisations that export terror."
He added: "It is well-documented that that has been the case in the past. It is an issue where we have to make sure that the Pakistani authorities are not looking in two ways.
"They must only look one way, and that is to a democratic and stable Pakistan that can have, of course, good relations with a democratic and stable Afghanistan."

Asked if his comments indicated that he believed elements in Pakistan were currently backing terrorism, he replied: "I have said what I've said. But to be fair, there has been big progress in Pakistan in terms of targeting terror and terrorists in Pakistan.
"We have seen that in recent years and the relationship between Pakistan and Afghanistan as a result has got stronger.
"But we need to see that progress continued."

He is jumping on the flawed intel reports in the wikileaks saga.

Nationalism no, a desire to suck up to a country while drumming up business deals and economic ties, yes. In addition, attempting to pressure Pakistan, yes.
How much more proof do you require???...and what proof do you require??
What do you mean 'how much more'? Haven't seen hardly any yet, all the recent claims about so called 'evidence' (Waldman report, wikileaks) have been debunked for being rumors, unverified and false.
