What's new

Burquas banned in Egypt University

Why the hell people have to force their 'dress code'(no doubts there are limits)
Forcing them will not do any good &

I don't understand why some people are saying it 'bold move'

I mean is this wolrd such a place that the decent clothing Code also needs legislation,Don't interfere this mush with lives of people

This is not a Issue but it is been transformed into one

What hell is Problem with the people around woman with Burka??? Y the hell should she follow the dress code defined by others, Let them decide what to Follow

.
I don't get these coutnries, they claim to war headscarf and burqa in Germany but in their own country itis forbidden, could somebody clarify?

.
why do people believe that they will supposedly liberate women by banning a peace of cloth.
what is needed is better education and making them aware of their rights so that they can actually fight for them. but then again this will take a lot of work and banning a peace of cloth is so much easier. this is all cosmetic.
and we are talking about freedom in egypt one of the most repressive states in all the world. If the leaders in Egypt are so concerned about rights may they should lift the state of emergency that has been imposed on the people for the last 26 years and give people the right to vote.
this is all cosmetic bullshit thats it

Why is it that ...entire islamic community worldwide is hanging by a piece of cloth...as if ''burqua''....has become synonym with Islamic existance......

This is not about Islamic rights. This is about human rights. Freedom of expression.

Quranic verse relating to the covering of women was revealed in the Sura Ahzab named after the battle of the Trench which took place in the 5th year of the Hijra , a couple of years after the battle of Uhad. There has a been debate among the scholars for a very long time as to whether this refers to covering of the whole body or that face can be left uncovered..

There is a Hadith attributed to Hazrat Ayesha (RA) which states that covering of face is not mandatory. There is also another one with more asnaad which says that face should also be covered. I am against forced covering as ordered by the Taliban, but I am also against a forced ban. I am of the opinion that it is choice of the individual.

As far as the rlues within an institution are concerned: IMO University Senate has the authority to make by laws which are to be followed by the students. For example in most schools there is a ‘Uniform’ or dress code decided by the School Board, any one not wishing to abide by it has the choice of leaving the school. Therefore I would go along with the rules formulated the Al Azhar Governing Body

Salaam O alaikum

Dear Muslims,

Although it is accepted by the majority of scholars, and even the sahaba (Radi Allah'huan), that the full face covering is NOT obligatory for women, we should respect women who CHOOSE to do it and acknowledge a difference of opinion amongst the Sahaba (Radi Allah'huan) over this issue.

Amongst the Sahaba (Radi Allah'huan) who believed that the full face covering was obligatory was Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with him. We all know that Rasool'Allah (Salllallaho alihey wasalaam) did duah for Ibn Abbas asking Allah to give him understanding of the Qur'an-e-majid.

Therefore, as Muslims we do not condemn the Burqah. We respect it, although we do not grant it the fardh status. Whosoever from amongst the Muslims seeks to ban the burqah is an ignorant and misguided. We seek Allahs guidance for such people.

Jazaak Allah’khair

Why banning burqas?? Those Egyptians are always acting funny. Even Turkish stopped doing that now a days.
Girls in countries like Malaysia and Indonesia and even in Bangladesh are wearing more and more hijabs. Hijabs are becoming modernity to the girls now a days but in Egypt its other way around.
A person should be allowed whatever dress she/he wish to wear specially in the University level. This is a must.

I am pretty sure misr will see Revolution soon ...

it is not about burqa. if a women does not want to wear it then she shouldnt but if she wants to then she should be allowed to.
What pisses me off is that it is coming from a government that is so repressive. what the hell do these people know about freedom.

Not at all surprised that you don't see the irony in your own comment. While you are condemning imposition of dress code by state, you are perfectly okay with imposition of dress code by religion. Dress code, in both the cases, is 'defined by others'. Is it not?

Following any specific religion is one own choice... No one forcing you to follow Islam.
