I agree. Hanging anyone isn't the solution. I'm not an Altaf fan, but we have to call a spade a spade. Some of his grievances are justified. Similarly, his party needs to abandon the militant wings. It's a known fact that the MQM (like some other political parties by the way) uses force to intimidate. This is not done and Karachi has been burning as a consequence.

The only solution is politics of reconciliation. Although, Altaf bhai has to come out of hiding now and return to Pakistan. He has to prove his loyalty to Pakistan and not the queen of Britain.

We are indeed living in the real world and that is why I am saying nothing will happen. MQM is no longer in a position to blackmail GoP. They are desperate to be the part of the provincial and federal governments but could they do anything about it? If MQM could not make the Sindh government to hold local elections despite all their street power and what not, getting Karachi closed is simply beyond their means for this will hurt local merchants/businesses first, the same merchants who's money is keeping MQM alive.

Right now you Pakistanis need to realise that we need a loyal technocrat govt which can run the affairs of state and bring order back.

There have been number of cases where MQMs MNAs and MPAs had to persuade theirr thugs to stop. You seem to me a very naive person or one of those target killers otherwise no Karachite in his right senses will back Ghainda bahi.

Certain people think they are well-informed and into the things. Internet is a funny place you see; you never know who is on the other side talking to you. There was a time when I used to attend mahfil mouseequi at Farooq Sattar's place in PIB. Need to say no more but I can vouch for what you said above is largely if not entirely correct. Problem is, this is not the time to get rid of MQM for this will leave a huge power vacuum, and this will not be good at all for Karachites (that include all ethnicities) in general and for Urdu speakers in particular.
