LOL. . have any of you guys been to Karachi or know its demographics or dynamics. Its in MQM areas that business flourish and provide employment to people from all over Pakistan. supports Pakistans economy by contributing in Taxes and not hiding behind stupid exemptions. What is this mentality a british journalist issues a statement and there we go Kill him or kill them. the sentence is "Bringing to Justice". what do u guys expect from the people of Karachi when they have to face dacaits from all over the country under the protection of imported police to take away their life earnings.
There is a thing named LAW in Pakistan and it should be implemented regardless of race color creed or religion. to civilians and armed forces.
and yes Armed Forces have been involved in land grabbing extortion and kidnappings. specially Rangers. search arshad pappu arrest and killing.
We Pakistani's have to take a stand on one principle now "Truth". and act accordingly if we really want a change. or else we can go on for ever.

I pity Urdu speaking who are such educated and fine people but their thinking and decision making is hostage of a tyrant, murderer.

It is really a pity that Altaf is the leader of Urdu speakers, and they have no choice but to accept a psychopath's tyranny for there is simply no other options available to them. Urdu speakers have been victimized first by Ayub for their 'crime' of supporting Mohtarma Fatima Jinnah, and later by the PPP and Jamaat Islami. Back in early 1980s there was a vacuum that was filled up by MQM but it took little time for MQM to transform from a representative of oppressors into a party that was as much oppressing as were/are the other parties. Karachi is not the same, old families, educated people, and intelligentsia of Karachi have moved out, immigrated to Canada and elsewhere. Now what you see in Karachi is the leftover, that is struggling too to leave the country.

Dude seriously in 5.5 years you know everything? I have been living here for 30 years and still Karachi surprise me . and i was born in Punjab my father was transferred here and stayed coz he loves the city. lets call spade a spade. our problem is prejudice. how did u come to the fact that i am urdu speaking? the power of MQM is the people of Karachi. it is not wild wild west here. most of the city is calm and business grows. the problems is in the suburban parts where (i dont know how, do you ;p) weapons just appear from no where. hmm may be they grow them. our brothers from other provinces wont allow a heinous crime like smuggling weapons into the business hub of the country right!!
as i said, stick to the principle taught to us by our religion and beloved Prophet SAW, TRUTH. many things will become quite simple.

Sir Karachi still has lots of talented educated youth, you will find doctors, engineers, chartered accountants, and all other professionals, it is just that they don't prefer going outside Karachi to other parts of Pakistan, they want to remain there and when I asked my colleagues to move to some other city settle there, so that it will bring you closer to other communities and their life style and will give you another perspective of looking at Karachi's situation and how you can change it. Or at least it will give you a breather from all that hustle bustle, strikes, bhatta khori, snatching and target killing. But for them "They cannot live without lights of Karachi" .

I agree. Hanging anyone isn't the solution. I'm not an Altaf fan, but we have to call a spade a spade. Some of his grievances are justified. Similarly, his party needs to abandon the militant wings. It's a known fact that the MQM (like some other political parties by the way) uses force to intimidate. This is not done and Karachi has been burning as a consequence.

The only solution is politics of reconciliation. Although, Altaf bhai has to come out of hiding now and return to Pakistan. He has to prove his loyalty to Pakistan and not the queen of Britain.

People of Karachi Hostage? HMMM in 2002 MQM lost many of its seats in its strong hold to MMA. in recent election there was a major dent as well although many of Karachitte only didnt vote to IK coz of his sympathy to Talibans. in BI- Elections under the Army MQM swept away all the available seats. So how these facts support the claim that People of Karachi are being held hostage. it is not like in the rural areas of sindh, punjab balochistan where they have to vote for wadera chodhry or sardar or else. . . . and i know for a fact about punjab coz i have a background from a village in it. thats called BEING HELD HOSTAGE BRO.
MQM isnt the angel but is the the lesser devil that people of Karachi are more then happy to be content with. Karachi in MQM era was a much better place. for all pakistanis in general. It all started with PPP govt. and i really believe that is the problem here. Its goons and MPs not MQM.
Moreover i dont think PA really cares that much about MQM coz at max they can get like 25 seats. its PPP and PML that really gives PA some tough times.
