What's new

Britain took more out of India that it put in – could China do the same to Britain?

if the victim could have done anything about its victimization, yindu wouldn't be the hole it is today.

there is nothing anglosaxons can do about their ineluctable decline and deindustrialization and impoverishment. they are going yindoo right now (and getting all the yindoos into their borders helps, of course)

Of course they did bad and good, this was at a time where if you were not unified you would be ruled, if it was not Britain or another colonial power it would be some locals who could have been far worse. At the end of the day blame can be passed around but if people fail to unify because of tribal/religious reasons then if something happens that can fix these problems, long term, its not such a bad prospect..im not saying its good but like the Romans, the British empire put in a place a form of unity and infrastructure that shapes the countries future positively, the past was bad but the futures not to shabby.

Whgat infrastructure, unity? When you left it was the 600 odd kingdoms that had to be unified
with over 600 princely states free to choose between independence or accession to either dominion.

You really should not believe the nonsense written in british media.

To Chinese and British idiots, when the British came India was in the process of reunification. Not hundreds of states like these idiots claim:

Some has trickled back but who do you give it to, the people it belonged to no longer exist and the father wasnt exactly poor to begin with so its not like the fathers wealth came solely from that theft, but then if you use that logic you can look at any part of history and say the same, the Romans enslaved plenty of Welsh people here, mined lots of copper/gold in conditions far worse than anything seen for millennia..I wont ask Italians for reparations. It makes no difference if it was 100 generations ago or 3, if its not happening in present day then thats a good thing and you move on united.

Hell, even the English were exploiting Wales in the past few decades and benefited greatly from what little mineral wealth we did have left whilst lots of Wales is still as undeveloped as parts of Eastern Europe, if it bothers you then its an excuse for incompetency of the locals. Life is about you and your internal progression, its not like Indians are not high achieving and in many cases excelling more than anyone else in the world so as bad as the past was, it may have been worse.

You give the money back to the rightful heirs -the present day India. Anyway it is impossible to work out what they stole/looted exactly and a formula should have been devised where UK and other colonial countries transferred a percentage of their GDP for an x number of years to countries they colonised.

Anyway, you are trying to digress by bringing in the Romans from 2000 years ago. That was a different era with different standards. Unlike South Asia and some other parts of the world, those colonised by Romans have had enough time to recover.

China is there to make money, not to exact revenge for Indians. You can do that on your own.

China is only there to do business. It is not the same thing as colonial rule.

India should be grateful they don't have to burn their widows anymore while the Chinese should thank the British pressure for ending their commie government's one child policy.

Chinese will change policies according to our needs. No countries in the world dictate our internal affairs.
