What's new

Breaking, Saudi Arabia, China and localization of the JF-17 technology

.
If purchased they could have most Westernized/Advance version of JFT.
Indeed KSA has the option of western avionics, engines, AESA radars and much more.. but it all depends on the package China is going to offer with the TOT level and content.. Making a warplane and buying one are two totally different things, one can have the money to buy a Bentley, but he sees his interest in the possibility of manufacturing a Honda Accord with his own specs.. The title of the thread says "Localization", and that is the main point of these negotiations.. this was reported many times and continuously for a few years now, so there must be some truth to it.. I am from those who believe that KSA will buy a JF-17 modernised line of production with essential ToT, and make either the Chinese-Pakistani version, its own version with own European specs or a mix/hybrid of both.. The quantity will be substantial as the Saudi Air chief have declared in a recent visit to Pakistan..

No, in this case IA, the buyer will precede KSA, and it is not Bahrain.

In that case Pakistan can really focus on upgrading JF17 with latest avionics from western origin and make two versions of Block III-A (with Chinese / Turkish / Pakistani avionics) and Block III-B (western avionics).

.
There was no Islam invented in the 17th century in Saudi Arabia.

There is only one Islam.

Turkey has also become corrupted by secularism in the modern era.
Have you been to Saudi or turkey.
House of Saud and house of Abdul wahab....have an agreement on politics and religion.
Ataturk messed up religion in turkey but now that's changing rapidly. I just visited turkey and they are really strong Muslims yet those that are not are not treated badly. That's not a bad thing for religion is from the heart not from the stick

.
Saudis are trying to get every weapon with TOT. JF-17 BLOCK III could be the best thing which can happen to them

. .
So block 3 concept is finalized

As per my best knowledge there will be no structural / design change in any JF-17 blocks but they are working to reduce weight, engine and radar.

.
They are waiting for block 3 with aesa... is a perfect fighter to augment their high tech toys

Yeah, JF-17 block 3 will be a 4 plus generation fighter and I guess SA needs their own and a fighter fleet in big numbers.

Exactly, in case of western avionics suite, it is highly unlikely to get ToT on those items and only airframe will be ToT'ed. However, China may agree to ToT even the AESA radar KVJJ7-A (sorry if the name/spellings are incorrect) and this radar has great features and it is not behind Vixen-E offering from Italy as far as the known specs are concerned.

Saudi Arabia planning procurement of JF-17 Thunder, Mashshaks, says Saudi air chief

There are too many possibilities, that why it is taking all this time.. it is just normal to conduct thorough studies before any military system procurement, more so when ToT is involved..

*That would be KLJ-7A

@Khafee Very dear friend,

Long time... hope you be fine.

If I recall your guys were at PAC taking a look at stuff as well. Block3?

By any chance your guys interested in collaboration of 5th Gen kind?

Drop hints if you are allowed.

Take care,

Mangus
Salam Wa Rahma, Hope you are in the best of health and wealth.

Blk3 - Some members commented, that should KSA & UAE be interested in it, "one with western avionics could be built."
Now this is what I don't understand, With the F15SA, EF, and Blk60, why would they want downgraded western avionics? Meaning, it wont be on the level of the F15SA, EF, and Blk60, so why not go for Sino-Pak, which would also give them at least partial ToT, and at the same time, sanction free. This is what makes sense to me, what KSA ultimately decides upon, might be a different story, but for the UAE, this has been my recommendation.

One thing that has proven itself in combat has been the Blk60's IRST, I sure hope, Blk3 has IRST in-built, right from day one.

Gen5 - is too fluid to comment, it is still in the design phase. Once things are finalized, I will be in a better position to comment. But it will definitely be interesting to see how the Russians are given a run for their money.
