Breaking, Saudi Arabia, China and localization of the JF-17 technology

Yes they can - trust you me they can. They are masters of leverage, never forget that. If it took us 10 years to achieve something, then if they make up their mind and put their money where their mouth is, they'll do it in 3 years.

Yes but Saudis can start their own variant of indigenous planes in the region.

Well Saudi Arabia has always been a strong ally of Pakistan.
It would be good for Saudi Arabia to work with Pakistan in the military sector.

.
Well, not exactly an ally, it used to be more of a mutually beneficial relationship - till their militancy export to Pakistan became a huge headache for us to deal with. For the future I'm hopeful that it has a chance of improving provided that Muhammad bin Salman isn't kidding with us. Read link below

If he means what he says and it isn't a ploy (Political Islam v2.0), we can have a stellar relationship in the future. Let's wait and see.

Agreed there is only one Islam, and some folks don't follow it fully and that is their own personal choice and that is why there is something called judgement day determination of who had more faith

I do have reservations on 17th century variation invented in Saudia Arabia , becasue how people dressed and behaved was drastically different in Turkey or other countries
There was no Islam invented in the 17th century in Saudi Arabia.

There is only one Islam.

Turkey has also become corrupted by secularism in the modern era.

very strange. they have far more expensive and top of the line jets in their inventory . why would they be interested in a "poor man's F-16"?

Pakistan is already doing it with China, If Pakistan still thinks they need more to learn on JF17 than it seems ok to go with Saudies on this (may be a roumer), otherwise why not Saudies go for a 5th Gen Project with their deeper pockets and Pakistan's skills mastered from JF17 or even hire more experienced tech guys from around the world where Pakistan lacks.
Where does Aviation University's role fit here?

Not sure but this needs to be part of broader educational programs right across every institution starting at primary levels; you cannot just put in a specialised unit with no in take from grassroots. I will give an example of my university - yes we have a big glider manufacturing which has won world accolades in the middle of the farming region here. It is coupled with programs going right into under graduate levels; if the student wants to opt into aeronautical, there is a path for it. What I am saying is it is incremental build up.

I have posted previously some of the achievements via youtube before on various threads before.

The jet is getting better and better and it dosent have the strings of western fighters
saudi arabia is getting weapons to fight against iran, houthis in yemen etc. so saudia is not prone to sanctions. they will be allowed to use the jets to the maximum. with recent developments in the iran nuclear deal which is most likely to be broken down by trump saudia can get the best tech from US and europe.

saudis can directly go to china if they want some help making their own jets. why they are going through a third party.

. . .
Considering landmass of Saudia, JF-17 is not a jet for them, and for the same reason it was rejected by PLAAF
It depends on deployment, base location, and the role. With the ferry range of 3482 km (block-II) it is not bad at all and can cover KSA. You never know, Block-III may have even better range. But being produced locally in large numbers under their own control makes it a great option for bad times. Furthermore, JF17 is an evolving platform so it will see further development.

.
IT might actually be someone else signing on the dotted line before KSA. Just saying.......
Oh is it same saying like "Bahrian will follow after kSA in term of S-400...In this case Bahrain be replace with some one else ?

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman Bin Abdulaziz, who also acts as Defence Minister, is said to be working on a project to acquire the technology of the Chinese-made JF-17 Thunder multirole combat aircraft, which is jointly made by the Pakistan Aeronautical Complex and the Chengdu Aircraft Corporation of China.
Tactical Report has prepared a 346-word report to shed more light on the subject and tell what about the Saudi-Chinese contacts on the project.

If purchased they could have most Westernized/Advance version of JFT.
