Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman Bin Abdulaziz, who also acts as Defence Minister, is said to be working on a project to acquire the technology of the Chinese-made JF-17 Thunder multirole combat aircraft, which is jointly made by the Pakistan Aeronautical Complex and the Chengdu Aircraft Corporation of China.
Tactical Report has prepared a 346-word report to shed more light on the subject and tell what about the Saudi-Chinese contacts on the project.

Maybe the Saudis want a fighter they can build at home with maximum involvement to do all the heavy lifting

nothing concrete yet only rumours

TacticalReport is such a useless website that no one really takes what they write seriously.
Not sure about the credibility of Tactical report but there have been lot on airwaves about Saudi interest in the JF-17....specially the aircraft's participation in Northern Thunder exercise.

Very doubtful is that money is going to go to the Chinese or anyone else for that matter.

Considering landmass of Saudia, JF-17 is not a jet for them, and for the same reason it was rejected by PLAAF

It would be wise to cut dependence on USA.

JF-17 would be a prime choice, which Saudis can improve upon it.

nie..... they will do minimal lifting... everything will be done for them.. you forget that bit.

When 10 Billion dollar contract is signed wake me up

It comes with weapons that US will never give them...

very strange. they have far more expensive and top of the line jets in their inventory . why would they be interested in a "poor man's F-16"?
