Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) spokesperson announced on Saturday that the Taliban will observe ceasefire for a month, Express News reported.

Shahidullah Shahid also added that all groups linked to the TTP have also been asked to commit to the ceasefire.

Rustam Shah Mohmand, one of the four mediators appointed by the government, welcomed the ceasefire and said that the government should take advantage of this development, adding that the peace talks should continue.

Speaking to Express News, Professor Ibrahim, member of the committee appointed by the Taliban, said that the Taliban want to “give the gift of peace to the country.”

Earlier on Thursday, the top advisory council of the TTP had agreed to announce the suspension of hostilities against the government, one of the three members of the TTP negotiation committee had told The Express Tribune on condition of anonymity.

What a moron this Professor Ibrahim is. Gift of peace as if we are incapable of achieving it? Why this gift of peace did not come before the rears of the TTP (alias JI/JUI) were pounded with bombs? Sometimes I feel like using the language that best describes their hypocritical and anti-Pakistan philosophy, but alas, I just cant use that language, though I know they deserve every bit of that language.

Well lets accept this ceasefire for now,

Accept for now? I can't tell you how many times the rulers and governments have done the same thing, allowing the weakened enemy to hide and later get bitten in the backside by the same enemy.

To accept the ceasefire would be to settle for too less.

Keep up the attacks till not only they want a ceasefire but are ready to disarm.

To kill this militancy we need the media to see these people handing in their weapons and surrendering. This can be done but only if we create more leverage.

Army bases in NW is a must. Need these in place and we will increase leverage. This will need a group op and I hope this will happen next month.

I guarantee you they will be back again pleading for a ceasefire but this time we can demand them to disarm.

Pakistani Taliban announces 1-month cease-fire........

Doesn't this sound much like that, let me re-supply , re-man, build defenses and plan, then in one month we will come out fighting again.

100s of smelly rats died in last 10 days in air raids, 100s other are being killed and captured in fake encounters in Karachi and in the form of unidentified victims. Now when their a$$ is on fire they want ceasefire and that too unconditional, looking for a break to run to Afghanistan....you can run but you cant hide rats.

They killed men escorting a vaccination team today!!!

Kill these savages.

Wow, these motherfukers would do anything to survive. These latest air strikes must have been hurting them big time that they started playing mind games.

They're now counting on PTI and JI to come to their rescue and make the army stop the strikes.
