TTP ends ceasefire with govt, orders its militants to ‘carry out attacks in entire country’

Probably because of the way ethnic groups are spread out in the country.

But I don't understand how you can deny the sour relations between the two groups. Mainly from the Pashtun side.

It's essentially straight up denial.

There's been more Pashtun vs Muhajir and Pashtun vs Sindhi violence.

Why hasn't there been a Pashtun vs Punjabi riot when a lot of Pashtuns live in cities in Punjab e.g. Rawalpindi and Lahore?

You are only going on conjectures which have 0 proof. If its so sour then why no violence between the groups?

The Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) on Monday called off the ceasefire agreed with the government in June and ordered its militants to stage attacks across the country, according to a statement from the group.

“As military operations are ongoing against mujahideen in different areas […] so it is imperative for you to carry out attacks wherever you can in the entire country,” the statement, which is available with Dawn.com, said while addressing its militants.

The decision, it stated, was taken after “a series of non-stop attacks were launched by the military organisations in Bannu’s Lakki Marwat district”.

The banned group said it had repeatedly warned the people of Pakistan and “continued to be patient so that the negotiation process is not sabotaged at least by us.”

“But the army and intelligence agencies did not stop and continued the attacks […] now our retaliatory attacks will also start across the country,” the statement claimed.

The government and intelligence agencies are yet to comment on the matter.

Talks between Pakistani officials and the militant outfit first started in October last year but broke down in December.

These later resumed in May this year. The process, however, broke down once again due to a deadlock on the revocation of the merger of erstwhile tribal areas with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Subsequently, attacks by the TTP have been on the rise since September after the group’s ceasefire with the army ended. Most of the attacks have happened in and around Dera Ismail Khan, Tank, South Waziristan, and North Waziristan districts in KP.

In October, the Ministry of Interior had warned that more than year-long peace negotiations between the TTP and the government of Pakistan “had come to a standstill”, which had led to unease within the TTP’s ranks.

It had noted that the TTP accuses the Pakistani government of failing to fulfill its main demand — the reversal of the merger of former Fata with KP — as well as continuing to detain TTP members while a truce was still being negotiated.

The ministry had also highlighted the risk of TTP sub-groups defecting to the militant Islamic State (ISKP) or joining hands with the Hafiz Gul Bahadur group to resume terrorist activities.

Meanwhile, in a press conference earlier this month, Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari had called for the government to revisit its strategy to deal with the militant outfit.

“It is time to review decisions we took or we were made to take with regards to internal security and terrorism,” he had said.

Bilawal had also maintained that there was nothing wrong in admitting that “we were wrong about a few things and right about some other things and re-examine our approach”.

TTP would be mobilizing and dispatching its terrorists to different cities. Lets hope they are being tracked.

It's still a sus movement, if their objectives were so broad, you'd expect more ethnicities to take part and the attacks to be spread out rather than concentrated in specific Pashtun areas.

IEA also claims to be an Islamic movement by the way, but they are persecuting other ethnicities like usual and want to keep ethnic hegemony.

The other ethnicities aren't buying the message, but that still doesn't change the fact one of their negotiating points was Shariah all over Pakistan.

How does having shariah law = Pashtun nationalism?

Exactly. All their politics and actions are ethnic-centred because that's their culture.

PMLN was voted in twice and PPP still rules Sindh. Both want visa free travel to India. Both of these parties are in power. This is the biggest security threat to Pakistan.

Just study Afghanistan and the massacres and genocides of non-Pashtuns. Not at all to be trusted. Hazaras and Tajiks are still crying to this day and the Pashtuns mock them about it 🤣

We can also study Huddersfield, Bradford, and West Yorkshire and come to the conclusion British Pakistanis can't be trusted due to the grooming gang problem.

I guess Hispanic-Americans can also say the same too

They look like jahil low class Pakistanis from a backwater village. They should be sent back, stripped naked and beaten in public to teach them a lesson. I wish the UK would deport these taxi drivers from UK and invite the good families so our reputation can improve.

This is not a great example, use the example of terrorists coming from the Pakistani community which they did. They traveled from Leeds to London to do their dirty work. And ofcourse after that these communities were hounded and monitored after.

Cope.

The difference is their own leaders were carrying out systemic genocides and ràpes, literal politicians leading the country and the average person was supporting it and flexes it today.

Meanwhile you're using foreign criminals to prove a point.

I'm really not going to argue with a clown that quite literally denies the hateful historical and cultural relations between Punjabis and Pashtuns. Quite literally a fact.

It doesn't even require any further conversation if you're going to deny something that's essentially common societal knowledge.

Many of your own Pashtuns will admit it, visit Pashtun exclusive forums or social media accounts and they admit it. Just stop clowning over stupid arguments.

Do words like daalkhor punjapi, Ranjit Singh de awlad, hera mandi di awlad, tor makhi, ring any bell?

While I do not agree with visa free travel and open borders with India.

The average Indian doesn't lean towards terrorism and militancy, and is able to differentiate between personal relations and politics.

Afghans are the polar opposite, so it's still a bigger security risk.

You made it about ethnicity and not being "trustable". So I countered your point about "being trustable" of one example of crimes committed by Pakistanis.

It was a civil war in Afghanistan, even Ahmed Shah Massoud massacred Hazaras. In Pakistan, the attacks against Hazaras were from sectarian groups from Punjab.

Illegal immigration from Pakistan to Greece and Turkey has actually created a bad rep for Pakistanis. There was a whole hashtag called "Pakistani Perverts" due to recording and SA.

Many Pakistanis online mock 1971 atrocities on social media too.

Wait so why hasn't there been a Punjabi vs Pashtun riot in Pakistan?

Damn you're hurt over words and name calling

Lemme know when there's an actual race war between Punjabis and Pashtuns in Pakistan. That's never happened in Pakistan's history.

Only then that will prove actual hate on the ground.

Not really....Indians actually discriminate against Pakistanis and other Muslims in employment

But Pakistanis and Indians share a lot of cultural similarities so it makes sense why stuff like a visa free travel policy would be espoused by 2 ruling parties and why Indians and Pakistanis dance in cricket matches

It's a big part of domestic politics and heavily influences the security situation and factors into militancy. Especially in Afghanistan it has been a massive motivating factor and they've openly claimed it. You just can't ignore the ethnic tussle here.

One could argue that the insurgency in the country itself is due to the hatred between the two groups.

If you notice all TTP/IEA/PTM fanboys and even BLA fanboys all have a common theme of saying "Punjabi army" and doing group takfir on all Punjabis.

In fact PTM in quite a few speeches have made similar statements.

Pakistan Armed forces have been bombing TTP , it is IK who wanted to forgive and reconcile with TTP.

Pressure Tactics

I doubt it. ISI has been busy going after random who made offensive tweets these last few months.

Todays Balochistan attack would never have happened 2 years ago, when ISI was on the ball.
They would have caught the attacker well before.

It's a big part of domestic politics

So how is PTI winning both in KP and Punjab then?

heavily influences the security situation and factors into militancy.

Inefficiency influences the security situation more. If your point was the reality then majority of Pashtuns would be supporting TTP right now.

Especially in Afghanistan it has been a massive motivating factor and they've openly claimed it. You just can't ignore the ethnic tussle here.

Afghanistan is a foreign policy issue, but if it was truly an ethnic tussle then we would've seen an ethnic riot before TTP's creation or an ethnic riot now.
One could argue that the insurgency in the country itself is due to the hatred between the two groups.

You can argue that for BLA as they have actively attacked Punjabi settlers, but for TTP that's not correct.

Sorry TTP guys ... We are busy stripping naked lawmakers and their assistant ... We will come back to u when we are done with making videos ...

So how is PTI winning both in KP and Punjab then?
Imran Khan himself is a Pathan. Other parties took a massive popularity hit for being exposed as theives and controlled by foreign powers. Leaves little alternatives.
Inefficiency influences the security situation more. If your point was the reality then majority of Pashtuns would be supporting TTP right now.
The root of all insurgencies is due to being unsatisfactory with the state.

TTP had massive support for their objectives but their methodology was not appreciated, they forcefully extorted locals and many things which angered them.

Many people will describe them or view them as liberators of Pashtuns from the conversations I've had.

You can argue that for BLA as they have actively attacked Punjabi settlers, but for TTP that's not correct.

How many Punjabi settlers in places like Waziristan and the surrounding regions where TTP operates? Probably little to none.

"My feelings are hurt"
Lol I myself am not even from Punjab, I'm from AJK, but it's simply ignorant to ignore the common theme here.

Militancy in Pashtuns and their supporters always follows this theme. You cannot analyse this but ignore that at the same time.

It's like denial on your side
