Current estimate put it over 100 billion barrel and place it ahead of Kuwaiti reserves.

So this will be massive massive if they do find oil and there seems to be strong indicators.

Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan has hinted at finding ‘massive’ oil reserves in recent off-shore drilling off the coast of Karachi.

“Pakistan will not need to import oil after reserves are found near Karachi’s seas,” said Imran while talking to media at Prime Minister House in Islamabad on Monday.

People have been wildly speculating the size of the new found oil & gas reservoir, so here is my guesstimate: Approx 20bn to 27bn barrels.

Plus there is good news of multiple new gas fields, Thar coal has started producing electricity. All these indicators point to a change in destiny. All of this could have happened in the previous two Govt's tenure, but it didn't. I have said this before Allah works in mysterious ways, we cannot fathom the depth of his wisdom.

Pakistan needs to focus on limiting corruption, and investing in Health, Education, housing, and Defence.

Congratulations! May Allah give you the wisdom to use this new found wealth wisely.

Indus-G block is part of the same field where Mumbai High Oil Field is producing more than 200,000 barrels/day, thus 100 billion barrels is far than possible. Moreover, this is the 18th attempt to find hydrocarbons from deep waters in Pakistan. Earlier, Pakistan has drilled 17 times in deep sea, and the wells were either found dry or not commercially viable to be operated, so, we should not expect miracles.

Making mountain out of a molehill it seems, US did not become top oil producing company in a matter of weeks.

The exploratory phase is underway, the lab results are due, do not expect a single atom before years of due diligence.

If Pakistan's problems were that easy to solve, we would have become the king of the world decades ago.

Back in 1990's we had surplus gas because we had no CNG stations. Thank Musharaf for that.

The offshore block where discovery is being announced daily was also auctioned by the same crooks.

Pakistan has one of the worst air atmosphere. Gas is considered a cleaner burner w.r.t oil. Thanks that we have CNG or it could have been worse. Gas is not for cooking parathas and qorma everyday.

The political situation of this block is very interesting. Remember when America provided us Orion aircrafts back in 2000s which increased our sea water territory? It was only after we vowed to auction new blocks to ENI.
Remember the taliban attack which completely destroyed one of our onions at mehran base, guess who did it ? Indians and UAE protested against the American decision of providing Pakistan more aircrafts.
There are considerable reserves in the region and any country around with strong Navy presence may claim according to international law, that’s the reason India is spending billions on Russian submarines.
