Brace for two-front war, Indian Army told

Funny comments here.....for some people being prepared for a two front war means going to war.....

India should be ready for any such instance where China and Pakistan can launch a simultaneous war on India .....and thats India right so stop whining.

two front war???

I think India is capable of taking on Americans, Russians and Chinese at the same time.

Or India can take on Romulans, Klingons and Borgs at the same time.

So how long does it take for India to defeat both China and Pakistan this time around?

By the way...can you understand the difference between...Preparing for war ..and going to war.....or do you need some help here.

Every country prepares for a war in the peace time.....just like Tiwan keeps its army ready in case there is a war with China....but how many time that has happened....

Brace for two-front war, Army told

Rahul Datta | New Delhi

In an unprecedented move that has confirmed India’s concerns about China’s growing military might, the Government has for the first time given a directive in writing to the armed forces to enhance their military capabilities vis-a-vis the neighbouring country and prepare for a two-front war scenario with China and Pakistan.

Asking the armed forces to prepare themselves to fight simultaneous wars on the eastern and western fronts with China and Pakistan, Defence Minister AK Antony has directed the chiefs of Army, Navy and Air Force to rapidly modernise and upgrade their weapon systems and tone up operational preparedness.

The Services have been assured full support from the Government in this endeavour, sources said.

Explaining the significance of the directive, the sources maintained that it came against the backdrop of the armed forces’ apprehensions about the rapid modernisation programme of their Chinese counterparts. The directive will allow the armed forces to build capabilities to rapidly move troops from one theatre of war to the other by procuring more transport planes and improved rail and road network for ferrying weapons systems.

Modern warfare was all about speed, lethality and mobility and the directive would go a long way in helping the armed forces achieve this objective as soon as possible, the sources added.

The directive follows the Cabinet Committee on Security’s (CCS) nod to the Army to raise two more mountain divisions (each division has 10,000 troops) on the China front. With the focus on improving infrastructure, the Army was last year allowed to raise two mountain divisions. It means that in the next four or five years, it would have four divisions on the China front.

The Government has also removed the 10-year cap on recruitment and permitted the Army to go for fresh intakes. Coupled with this important development, the Government has cleared the proposal to acquire more than 200 Howitzer guns for these divisions through the foreign military sale route from the US.

“The Howitzer guns are light. These can be dismantled and carried on horseback or by helicopters to the remote and rugged terrain of Arunachal Pradesh and other such regions in Jammu & Kashmir where road infrastructure is non-existent,” sources said.

While the two-front war concept was in public domain and being discussed in seminars and TV debates, the political leadership had so far refrained from joining the debate. The recently-issued directive clearly indicates that the Government has finally heeded the concerns of the armed forces and given them unambiguous orders to go ahead and do the needful, sources said.

This decision would give the necessary momentum to the security establishment to improve the infrastructure, including all-weather roads right up to the Line of Actual Control (LAC) and airports and helipads in remote regions of States like Arunachal Pradesh. In fact, the armed forces are already engaged in upgrading nearly 25 airports in the North-East and the project is likely to be over within the next two years.

India and China have a 5,000-km-long disputed border and the Chinese have over the years rapidly improved their logistical lines by building roads right up to their side of the LAC. India is in a disadvantageous position as the terrain on its side is hilly and building roads there takes more time than in the plains, sources said, adding that the slopes on the Chinese side are gentler.

Peace..??

before everyone goes ballistic, please note that Pioneer is a very right wing newspaper and articles found here are very hawkish much similar to Pak newspapers. So please take this piece of news with a tablespoon of salt.

Is indian military ready for two geographically separate fronts. simply No.

The hope and idea of indian think tanks that enemies or opponents will split their fighting force to deal with both threats is weak and unrealistic specially when their opponents are producing and acquiring latest weaponry.

what utter bs
both the nations have attacked as in past, but still we cant prepare a strategy as our neighbours get irked

when their opponents are producing and acquiring latest weaponry.

which modern weaponry do u have:rofl::rofl:
f-16 or jf-17,get out of the illusion,in India we consider this as scrap materials

india's is more like on the lines of us military with failed strategies... indians are forgetting they are neither superpower nor regional superpower neither their economy can sustain a robust super fire power to hit enemies on two fronts in a short period of time to minimize the opponent's success.

now from were did U.S come in between, and how come Indian strategy r on lines of U.S,care to elaborate,ok leave it,i know u can't

and if Indian economy even after being 1.3 trillion strong cannot sustain a robust firepower then what about Pakistan,it will crumble by its knees even in the 2nd day of war,oh i forget it will happen in the first day itself,as ur first and last weapon is ur nuclear button

india is the only unfortunate asian country to be thinking of wars, conflicts with its regional neighbors, where it should concentrate on peace drive with both neighbors China and Pakistan in a long run to have a stable, peaceful, prosperous region.

now take this crap somewhere else, kargil was an example how much peaceful r u,at a time when or PM was in Pakistan itself to have a new start

Oh right, F-16 and JF-17 is scrap material which is why you were trying so hard to keep Pakistan from getting it :rofl:

In the recent past, Taiwan never claim to be able to defeat China in 96 hrs.

So are you saying that India will never be able to defeat Pakistan and China at all? You are comparing that to China being able to defeat US. China cannot defeat US in a 100 years. Also, India involvement is irrelevant unless India allow US to use its territories. That would only be the thing that matter.

boss, dont waste your time on this thread. Reason is because the article is crap by virtue of it being published in pioneer. 'i am stronger than you' fights are juvenile and should be discontinued.

Duh... read the statements care fully and not read the media reports by your favorite media .....the India has always maintained that it plans to build capabilities to a quick response t any attack...and never attack....

And if you are comparing India to Tiwan....boy you need some help...with geography..

So are you saying that India will never be able to defeat Pakistan and China at all?

We would rather let both of you believe that and hope you continue to believe that for few more decades.....

You never know...

India has fewer and fewer friends: brewing trouble with Bangladesh, distrust in Sri Lanka and even Nepal!

Alas for India, it does not have enough political or economic clout in the world that in the event of a war, the world will side with India. And the US will give India all the support short of any real help.

The world cares as much for India and its billion people as much as they do of any tin pot African country.

Mention China to a westerner and the following images come to mind: Martial arts, the Great Wall, economic might, military might, etc. etc.

Mention India, and the image is of a poverty sticken, disease ridden, dump!

Perhaps India should work on its PR and image in the world than try to build up its military!

If u are here for a mud slinging match then everybody is game on from our side, but if u are here to share views then it would be better.
Just to give a taste what does one get to mind when ur country is mentioned??? don't care to reply.

i like when indians try becoming apologists for their governmental blunders.

I am not trying to flame or anything but seriously are u a thinktank???

Do u understand what it means. The posts u have been posting in this thread give another kind of picture. Even after all the history of these three countries before u if u are unable to understand this action of my government then no use in talking to you.

2 front war - sounds good on paper , last time Indians lasted no more than 3 days against PLA , good wet/stupid dreams.

You are the last one i expected this kind of post from, i haven't seen u flaming from the time i entered this forum.
