What's new

Bosnia is running out of people!!

Here we can see the most recent birth rates by country. It corresponds with the human development index, and where there is higher development, there is lower birth rates. With the exception of France, where most of the birth rate is fueled by immigrants.

France's fertility rate is now 1,87.

Buddy,I work in human resources in the UK, with mostly Romanian workers. People who pick up fruits in Romania will pick fruits in the UK, waiters in Romania will be waitering in the UK, nurses in Romania will be nurses in the UK,doctors in Romania will be doctors in the UK.
..and so on, and so forth.
Ceausescu was a megalomaniac who starved his people, Romanians in 1989 had it bad even for EE communist standards, we became a North Korea style country.
Am I happy with country today? No.I agree there's a severe brain drain and a whole of other problems but under no circumstances staying under an illiterate peasant like Ceausescu would have been a solution.

I'm sorry that you see Romania in such dark lenses, but if Romania is so bad....what about Bosnia? As downright awfull Romania has double the GDP per capita in nominal and PPP than Bosnia?

lol why change the goalposts?

Dude I know Bosnia sucks right now economically as it's a small divided country and can't amount to anything near the status Yugoslavia once had. If it was up to me Bosnia would tommorow join an economic union with Azerbaijan, Turkey and central Asian states and maybe Russia too if they backed down on their traditional support for the Serbs.

Romania get's nothing positive from the EU but a massive brain drain and having your population work for peanuts in UK, Holland, Germany etc.. And most of the those populations are even very against the presence of your people especially in the UK. Can you actually call these countries your "friends"? Trust me these Westerners don't like Christian Orthodox. After us Muslims you are enemy #2 and no way they would let Romania prosper in their own anglo-american-catholic (EU) system

If Romania took a more independent path it could be Balkan Superpower after Turkey and expanded it's influence into former Yugo states and I honestly think Romanian society and military would be better off. Far less Romanians leaving the country opening the doors to a stronger economy, better standing off living and increasing the International presence of Romania in the world.

Turkey under Erdogan played this independent strategy and has worked exceptional for them. To the point that most Turks don't want to join the EU anymore as they understand that an independent path and soft power approach throughout Africa, Mid-East, Central Asia and Balkans is more beneficial to them.

Either Germany or US-UK should absorb the Bosnian population as they are the ones who created this chaos to start with. They can even create their own official enclaves in former Yugoslavia and consider taking Albanian including Kosovo along. Except this, the people of Bosnia, Albanian and Kosovo have no long term future other than living as NATO surrogates forever. This is the harsh reality.

Russia was supporting the Croats and kinda double playing with the Serbs back then
What?? Nahhh.

This is such a surface level answer and explanation. Mind you, back in the 60s, 70s, and 80s, Western Europe also had big positive birth rates, it wasn't due to the which political bloc a nation was in, but rather it was a different time with a different mentality.

Today, many countries in the world are seeing a slow down in population growth mainly do the generational differences, the rise of pop culture, feminism, individualism, etc. People have simply changes, they prefer to have 1-2 kids. For example, Turkey, in the 70s and 80s their birth rate was very very high, but today it isn't very high, yet they were never in the Soviet Union. Parts of Western Turkey see a 1.9-2.1 natural birth growth per year, because again, people are changing and their priorities are changing with it.

Pakistan is a underdeveloped nation, and as such it feeds into the trend where many under-developed nations have high birth rates. It is not known why this is, it could be due to many rural areas where families need people to work the lands, or it could be due to poor healthcare and high infant mortality rates. All of these factors could contribute to a higher than average natural birth rate.

China is also slowing down, they are expected to lose tens of millions of people (naturally) in the coming decades because most people have 1-2 kids and with the massive migration into big cities, it is very difficult to have 4-5 kids.

I will have to correct you on the poor interpretation of the political situation in Bosnia. Republika Srpska is a state within Bosnia, similar to a republic in the Russian Federation or a state in the United States. Republika Srpska has no monetary independence, no military, no borders or jurisdiction thereof, no passport or ID card, etc.

The central bank regulates the Bosnian currency and it is located in Sarajevo, so is the ministry of Defense, ministry of foreign affairs, etc. Therefore, Sarajevo is the capital of Bosnia, Bosnian Serbs who are elected go to Sarajevo to serve their posts. Finally, your claim that there is a puppet state in Sarajevo is funny and holds no merit. The EU is there, sure, but they are there to ensure the peace deal is in force and quite frankly the peace deal works in favor of Bosnian Serbs more than it does to Bosniaks and other pro-Bosnia citizens. The deal stopped the war, the Bosnian army was on an offensive, the city of Banja Luka was being evacuated (the city is the capital of Republika Srpska), and the EU/US stopped the war. All the while, when Bosnians were being killed, the west did nothing, but when the army started winning the west stopped the war in a matter of weeks. This goes to tell you how NATO and the west were against Bosnia, but Bosnians clrealy see this now and they won't forget it either.

I don't know if anyone is qualified to talk about what broke up Yugoslavia, but I think I am. Simpy put, the many different nationalities in Yugoslavia ultimately broke it up. It wasn't the CIA who came and forced millions of Croats to protest for months demanding independence, or the Slovnians or the Macedonians and or the Bosnians. The people wanted their republics to be independent. Each Yugoslav republic had a democratic referendum in which the majority of each nation voted to leave Yugoslavia.

Further, the history amongst the difference peoples runs deep, over 1,000 years. Yugoslavia was a recent experiment held tightly together by Tito who silenced the Chetniks (Serb Nationalists) and the Ustase (Croatian Nationalist) and also silenced Bosniak figures who preached against YU.

The Serbs were the ultimate destroyers of YU. Under Tito people lived together in "brotherhood and unity," however after he passed, the Serbs started to implement policies which went against the very YU slogan of brotherhood and unity. For example, the majority of the general in the YU army were Serb even though the Serbs were a cumulative minority in YU, further, most of the ministries were starting to be filled with Serbians or pro-Serbian politicians. Tito made sure the federal government in YU was fairly represented, after his death it was not anymore. People started to rebel against all of this, and they started to call for leaving the south slavic union.

It is easy to say the West did this or that, but I know what happened on the ground and I know the history of the area. Sure, the west supported it, but it was ultimately the different peoples and nations of YU that decided to leave.

How about Pakistan forms a union with India, or maybe just go back to being Indian. How does that sound @OsmanAli98

Mind you, Stalin tried to kill TITO on dozens of occasions. YU started the "Non-Allignment" movement, which countered the very teachings of the Soviet Union and the West. Therefore, no to say that YU was a close buddy of the Soviet Union is wrong. The YU army had yearly drills simulating a hypothetical Soviet Invasion. This says it all.

I want to add some color to the population situation in Bosnia. The answer is simple:

Bosnia is in Europe, it borders the European Union, The Bosnian Passport allows you to live and work in most EU countries, therefore, many young people are taking advantage of this. Also, if we look at Croatia where the average salary is 900 Euros ($1,035.00) per month, even there people are leaving en mass. Just because people are leaving does not mean they won't come back. In Bosnia the average salary is 470 Euros, roughly $520 per month ( higher than Russia and on par with TR) yet people are still leaving. I am sure if Russia had the same working arrangments with the EU they would flock to go work there.

The good thing is this..... many people return after a few years and start companies, many people send money, buy apartment and build houses which all contributes to the economy. Also, if we look at the bread and butter of the stats we will see that the majority of people leaving Bosnia are Bosnian Serbs and Bosnian Croats which works great for Bosnia's political situation.

Also, there i a generational change in Eastern Europe, as I mentioned above. People are choosing to have less kids and that is evident in the rest of Europe, the US, Canada, Australia, China, etc. However, Pakistan is still under-developed and it simply cannot be put in the same category as Eastern European nations in terms of salary, infrastructure, healthcare, education, etc. and the same can be said for India. As these countries develop, they too will start seeing a decrease in their population. Especially with urbanization. It may be easy to have many kids in a village, but much more difficult in a city.

We are seeing many migrants from Northern Africa, Middle East and Pakistan .. maybe they will help with the demographic situation. Many go through Bosnia on the way to the EU, but some decide to stay. One example is this guy from Morocco, he sells napkins and says he makes more selling napkins in Bosnia then he could working back home.

Moroccans

Algerian who decide to stay:

Pakistanis:
Great post. We also recall how Bosniaks wanted guns to defend themselves but Europe sent them bread. You're analysis is right that ultimately, European powers didn't care in the slightest for bosniaks, other than how they might manipulate you guys against Serbs and Russia but at the same time, ensure you didn't get too strong yourselves. European officials and militaries were under orders to merely look like they cared. Nobody has forgotten how the Dutch stood down at Srebrenica.

.
It's ok, every country running out of people will be replaced with Africans and Indians.

.
Either Germany or US-UK should absorb the Bosnian population as they are the ones who created this chaos to start with.

I am not quite sure what drugs are you on but you should quit and seek help immediately, since it really has a bad effect on the few functional brain cells you have still left.

Except this, the people of Bosnia, Albanian and Kosovo have no long term future other than living as NATO surrogates forever. This is the harsh reality.

All of those people fought for their freedom and paid for it in blood...lot if it.So take your imaginary "realities" together with your worthless opinions and shove them up your...you know.
