Anyway Phalke was a good guy. Did not play part in the deaths of over a million people and yet excelled in his mission. Today his film industry does indeed have better reputation golbally than a certain other experiment.

We make more than 1000 movies a year and Bollywood contribution is only 200-250 per year.Number of movies about your country are just few in number and it is only Bollywood who dishes out war movies for hindi audience. For our regional movies in south and east, Pakistan is irrelevant. Yet our country is still united under pluralistic, secular republic guided by our constitution.

But, the whole point is that India is the nationalism of an idea. It's the idea of an ever-ever-land, emerging from an ancient civilization, united by a shared history, but sustained, above all, by pluralist democracy. That is a 21st-century story as well as an ancient one.
