Boeing, HAL, Mahindra Defence join hands to make Super Hornet fighter aircraft in India

.
This is a well come move. India is all set to be the global hub of military jetsj

.
And has Boeing being given the contract for the Super Hornet.

Not yet,but Rafale has an edge because

(1)Dassault has already started work on a factory along with Indian partner Reliance to supply components to 36 Indian rafale being built in France
(2) Sncema working on Indian Kaveri engine
(3)Foundational agreements required by US law India is unwilling to sign

So this is just a possibility not confirmation.
With US total TOT will always prove the stumbling block.

.
Indian delusions of grandeur.....a boon for enemies of India, no doubt India will go deeper and deeper in the quagmire

Take that boon and be happy...lol

US is on the verge of giving India some serious Tech in may. Since it's the US, let's wait and see.

It's safe to assume that we have seen the last of rafales. It's a damn good bird, but too costly. France could have lowered the price, but I blame out govt for the stupid evaluation process that took a decade.

But many indians claim that IAF will order 36 more rafales?

It might happen after the uprated domestic Kaveri engine that Sncema is consulting on is verified and tested on the Tejas

.
Also, why add mahindra to the mix? Doesn't hal have ample experience and expertise of manufacturing fighter jets?
Indian private companies will get to learn a lot even if it is “just an assembly line”. Know how from giants of the sector like LM or Boeing - would help companies like Mahindra (relatively new to the sector) a lot. This is corporate gold.

Such memo were signed in past with Lockheed and Saab about f16 and gripen only that company would really make jv which gets contract
But rember the previous contract winner dasault didn't put up manufacturing facility :)
Dassault would've put up a manufacturing facility if we would've gone ahead with the initial MMRCA tender of 126 jets but that has been scraped and 36 off-shelf jets have been purchased. No sane company would set up a line for 36 jets. But if IAF and IN plan to procure more Rafales and Rafale-Ms, that would definitely be local production with significant ToT

HAL or any other DPSU for that matter are way too incompetent and lazy and their quality sucks big time. It is always better to involve a private player so that these babus would be on their toes rather than consuming gallons of chai and tons of biscut

Last year the news was that LM and Tata joined hands to make the F-16 in India.

GoI wants the new tender to be produced by an Indian company with the help of a foreign player. But I hope we don't go with American jets as they come with a lot of strings attached and opt for the Rafale instead to maintain commonality and uniformity among our fleets

. . .
Imo India will pick super hornet over f16.
It's more of an obligation for modi govt to go for American jets now.
It will be much better if india go for Rafael rather than any other jet after investing 10 billion $ on them.

There is no obligation to go for American jets as they aren't giving it for free and GoI is aware that it comes with a lot of strings attached and there wouldn't be any significant ToT except for nut and bolt job.

At least France is helping us with Kaveri Engine and I'm sure they would offer considerable ToT which can be used in LCA-Mk2 and AMCA
