BNP responsible for BD Myanmar Face off: Dipu Moni

Sorry sir, it took 12 years to train 100,000 Afghan Army people by NATO, I don't understand how BD can train 7,000,000 in such a short time...

The Ansars and VDP troops are already a trained group of people. Like other militia groups throughout the world, they are not given combat trainings, but are trained in rifles, light arms shooting, and in other basic but important things. Seeing them in the march past you will feel they are well trained military personnels.

These militias are headed by an Army General in service so that in an emergency army can easily mobilze these militias.

.
why go to war with myanmar? Population of BD is 16 crore and 3-4 lac more rohingyas wont do us any more harm, let them be in slums like the Biharis. We need Myanmar in good terms as they are the one that will provide us the route to ASEAN.

No, Myanmar will certainly not give any connection to a Bangladesh that you want to become a YES MAN of that country. No other country respects a weak country that cannot say NO to its ego-centric neighbour when that country sends its own citizens to a neighbouring country on a false presumption that they are its nationals. BD must talk from the position of strength.

:) Actually, Alaungphaya is the name of a king. My real name is Zaw.

Yep. When you only have 2 neighbours, one of which is a 1billion+ future superpower, then you can't afford to piss off your other neighbour if you don't want to completely fall into India's sphere of influence.

Let us wait and see if India becomes a superpower.

It is far too poor and technologically backward now to even think of that term yet.

I would say that India is about a generation behind China right now (to the probable chagrin of the Indians here) but its future role as superpower is all but assured in my opinion.

superpower or regional power, it does not make a difference to us. I hope India does become a superpower in the future, trade possibilities are immense. In fact having 2 superpowers in the region with each per capita gdp of 15,000 (can rise to due to inflation) would be a dream come true for Bangladesh.

Yeah, maybe not in our lifetimes.

I suspect that all these Asians will gang up together to form a supranational entity at some point in the future. I may be wrong though :P

Be careful what you wish for. We have both superpowers on our borders and I for one am very scared of the implications. What a country may gain in trade and economy from being a neighbour to superpowers is negated by the loss of identity and sovereignty. It is a human constant that when a culture or civilisation is successful, it will inevitably try to impose and assimilate those smaller cultures around it. All joking aside, I would be very surprised if India did not atleast try to influence the politics of Bangladesh, if not for imperialist reasons then to pacify a neighbour. The Chinese have since forever been trying to influence Myanmar and have been trying to bring us into their sphere of influence. We have so far managed to fight off such ambitions but it will be hard to maintain our identity in the face of such a large and powerful country. Thankfully we have another power in India which we can for the moment use to counteract the Chinese but even they will have to be treated with caution in the long run. More importantly, IMO, South East Asia is the key. Greater regional co-operation will inevitably mean the increased importance of ASEAN as both an economic and eventually military union.

Objectively, I don't see how Bangladesh, which is a small flood prone delta, surrounded on 3 sides by India, will survive as an islamic island identity unless it looks to seek better relations with SE Asia and specifically Myanmar. That's why I find it amusing all the jingoism and empty pride being shown on here a lot of the time.

You have to read the history of Bangladesh and how it departed from India. India will never want us back (Ask any Indian for that matter) . They are more afraid by us than we are by them. They think we will make them convert to Islam and they will have to eat cow.

india may be a superpower but its internal problems are a major cause of concern, dont get fooled by the glitz pictures of bollywood the indian sub continent in general has been a very rich state but majority of its wealth almost all throughout its known history were enjoyed by a rare minority the masses hardly ever benefited from it, a prime example is a 1.5 billion dollar house beside the largest slum in the world. Desis in general from khyber to burma are always fuled by emotion rather logic, hence politicians and the rulling class derieve major benefits from playin around with peoples emotions, untill and unless the mentality of the mass in the indian subcontinent changes there wouldnt be any difference true the countries will develope but corruption and mass exploitation will run rampant

It is clear that you sir are from South Asia. It would be good to know which part as well, and it can be done by choosing a flag of origin.
