I don't like this ambiguity, I think most people don't, they must be open about who will be in charge. However, Sonia Gandhi was desperate about making Rahul the PM, and he would have been the PM, no doubt about it.
There is no 'like' in this. How come you don' show so much dislike about BJP? There is even bigger separation of powers between BJP and RSS- that is much much worse. You may not like dynstyism but India wanted it, especially rural India. That's why the congress kept it. Even the BJP that says no Dynasty and whatnot took Maneka Gandhi and Varun Gandhi on board, they also have no problems with other Dynasty parties like the Badals. With the BJP itself many MPs and MLAs have their children padded up too. From what I gather Robert Vardra's father was actually a big BJP honcho, along with several other members of his family. Did you know that?
@Rain Man fact is Sonia Gandhi never wated to get into politics herself, nor wanted Rajiv to do so either. It was only when Narasimha Rao tried to hard weld Bofors with Rajiv to sink the 'Gandhi Threat' for good did she decided to enter the fray. By the end of his tenure his battles with Sitaram Kesri had all but destroyed Congress. When they were booted out of power, the congress honchos came together, threw out Rao and brought baCK Sonia. They decided wisely that unity is most important, so a titular all powerful head was placed there. And for merit PM was selected on ability.
