Many of my relatives are still a bit hostile to those outside our faith. Although my parents are awesome folks, I'd interacted enough with a few other relatives to be suffciently apprehensive about entering their Homes. It vanished after I joined High School. I too like Telugu movies. Since my knowledge Telugu is just kaamchalau, I mainly watch their dubbed Hindi version. Have you seen Hyderabadi movies, they too make some good comedy movies.
