Except what you said here is simply not true. China officially declared that it lost 4 PLA soldiers in the entire Ladakh crisis ordeal. This may include events outside of the main violent clash in June 2020 which was the point where both nations ordered pull backs. PLA returned hundreds of Indian soldier prisoners but this was only mentioned by both sides as several dozen to save Modi from such humiliation that Modi would be forced by Indian public to go to war.

Later on China started officially leaking just a few photos and videos of several incidents during those confrontations. Those show that India was beaten, Indian soldiers captured in large numbers, Indians had helmets shields and metal rods and other sticks armed since February 2020. PLA side sometimes had riot gear and offensive weapons such as clubs in some photos and videos and unarmed in others. Especially in one photo (selected by Chinese side to of course make China look like the good guy as both sides do) where it shows one Indian soldier approaching a PLA officer and threatening him with a knife. The PLA soldier was holding his armed stretched out as if to signal this is a line or border.

You can see the Indians have riot gear and offensive weapons. It was certainly not the case as Indian claimed at the start right after June, where Indians were defenceless. From day 1 Indians had offensive equipment (sticks, metal rods etc) and shields and helmets. Of course PLA side did have those too but some teams had some didn't. The organization and reconnaissance of situation was much, MUCH better on PLA side compared to Indians and Indian movements were read better and PLA was always able to corrected predict action and reinforce. Occasionally tricking Indian side to traps as well where seemingly weak positions were set as traps. That's my own personal suspicions. Otherwise during June clash, PLA capturing so many Indians is hard to explain. Clearly PLA had awareness of what Indians were going to do and reinforced positions either with prior knowledge of movements or were able to very quickly send much greater numbers of soldiers to a position. Whatever the case, both sides know very well how it all went down and both choose to be relatively silent about it for their own reasons.
