Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) today warned Myanmar of “befitting response” if its border guards create any untoward situation in the bordering area following the ongoing unrest in Rakhine State.

“We are the nation of heroes. We are prepared to face any untoward situation if it is created by Myanmar Border Guard Police on the bordering area,” said BGB Director General Maj Gen Abul Hossain.

He was addressing a press conference at Ghumdhum Border Observation Post in Naikhyangchhari upazila of Bandarban this afternoon.


“We are on high alert. We will not allow anyone from Myanmar to intrude into Bangladesh,” Abul Hossain said after visiting different bordering areas in Bandarban.

When people are brutalized in Arakan by the Burmese our BGB Chief talks of not allowing the sufferers to intrude into Shonar Bangla. So, I ask if this is the official policy not to allow the Rohingyas inside BD under any circumstances. How can it be true or is it just a diplomatic response?

why isn't BD buying some sophisticated military hardware to back nation's interest? Our economy is doing great and can certainly afford some quality military hardware compared to what we have now. Myanmar economy is four times smaller but still their military hardware is comparable to BD.

No logistics is required to conquer Arakhan as it is flat terrain that borders BD.
The Arakhan mountains will make a new natural border between BD and Myanmar.
