they capture the wind and they're appropriately named "bad gir" or wind catchers.

"PERSEPOLIS",or " TAKHT-E-JAMSHID" was build by the wish of king of PERSIA , the first Achaemenidae Darius , in 512 B.C.

All the halls and auditoriums of PERSEPOLIS were used for ancient Iranian ceremonies held in the amplitude of "RAHMAT" mountain located in MARVDASHT (45 Kilometers before Shiraz). These halls were expanded on a rectangular area with 300 meters of width, 445 meters of length, and approximately 15 meters of height above the surface of the area.

After the great Darius, his son, Khashayarsha (Xerxes), finished the half-completed structures of his father's, and, also added more halls to the collection. The process and completion to this environment, after Khashayarsha, chronologically, was left to 1st Ardeshir (Artaxerxes), 2nd Darius, 2nd Khashayarsha, 2nd Ardeshir and 3rd Ardeshir, for about 148 years.

Finally, this huge monument was set on fire and half-destroyed by the great Macedonian Alexander in 331 B.C.

By a common mistake, people refer to PERSEPOLIS as TAKHT-E-JAMSHID or something related to JAMSHID, (a mythological character in FERDOWSI's SHAHNAMEH,) for in SHAHNAMEH's myths it is JAMSHID who possesses the Powerful demons and has influence upon them. and all the people believed that such magnificent structures can only be made and created by these Powerful demons.

Absolutely beautiful shot, mind telling us the location of this place?

Inshallah next time i go to Iran hopefully i can explore a bit more and get to see places like Tabriz, Shiraz and maybe Kish Island.

It is a scenic view of the Alborz (البرز) mountains. I cannot pinpoint to any exact location.

Not really. Afghans are very different to Iranians. Only the Tajiks in that country have a cultural and historical relationship to north eastern Iran and the Persian culture. But modern-day Iranians and Tajiks have diverged quite a lot since they were united in what was once known as Khorasan, which nowadays only exists in northeast Iran. The rest of Afghanistan has some relationship to Iran, but not too much. Their culture, society and way of life is totally different to Iranians and they have a different history to us.

Not all iranians are close to all afghans, the only groups who have got everything in common between each other is the Tajiks of Afghanistna and Persians of Iran, as a matter of fact the Tajiks are East Persians. Pashtoons of Afghanistan do not have anything with iran, and so do the Turkmens and Kurds of Iran dont have anything with Afghanistan. it is purely ethnic to ethnic relations. culture and way of life of Tajiks is the closest and in many ways the same with the persians of iran.

Majority of the people in Afghanistan also speak Farsi, but they call that language "Dari".

What is more accurate term for that language Farsi or Dari. We call Persian language, "Farsi", but they say no its Dari.

For example, this poetry of Allama Iqbal is in Farsi language but Afghans say its Dari, we call this language Farsi.

YouTube - Az Chashme Saqi - Hadiqa Kiani (Exclusive)

Omar brother, more than 50% of afghnistan speak farsi as their first langauge, and it is spoken by majority of the people(maybe over 70-80%) as their second language. the term Dari is also used for Farsi in the past, for example you can see the Term Dari in the poetry of great Hafiz shirazi, Roodaki etc. in afghanistan the language was called Farsi and not Dari, it only was changed from farsi to dari for the last few decades, this decision was politically motivated by Dawood Khan the president who wanted to create artificial division between Iran and persians of Afghanistan. on the streets of AFghanistan people call the language Farsi.

Alama Iqbal is a well known personality in AFghanistan and he is respected by everyone in that country.
