What's new

Beautiful Image of PN Flotilla at Karachi Dockyard.

In future Pakistan also needs to make such protected area for Ships and specially for Submarines.
That will make difficult for enemies whether submarines are parked or travelling in deep sea.

Hub is too close. A single sortie attacking Karachi can take Hub with it (hypothetically only). Aerial distance is too less. Some thing around 200 KM from Khi would be nice.

The problem with Karachi is not the distance from the enemy, but what is near the base at Karachi.

Karachi a narrow harbor filled with civilian vessels and surrounded by a large city. Hub is just ever so far “over the hill” from Karachi that air defenses can be placed on the hills just east of hub and not out Karachi civilian air traffic at risk. Hub is a location where a dedicated base can be built, but it is close enough to Karachi that the logistics from karachi will be close.

something similar to how the Indian layout at their major replacement base on the western coast at Karwar (project seabird) maybe a design that works

although we have hills near the base and an island (Charna) which we can use to make a more well dig in and layer defenses design.

One of the basic principles while sighting strategic installations is that all EGGs should not be in close vicinity to each other. They should be WELL SPREAD OUT for the enemy air force. Go it bro ?

why do you think the entire fleet would be at one base. Ormara, Pasni, and Gwadar could still be used to disperse the fleet, such that no more than half the fleet was near Karachi; at a replacement base for Karachi near Hub.

I have a whole series of posts, on this thread, on 4 locations where the fleet can be placed in caves to prevent or mitigate the effects of an air attack.

No need to be condescending, Bro

I am of the opinion that Karachi base should only house small to medium sized vessels ,as the site is cramped with pollution and heavy maritime traffic. Larger vessels can be based in a new well protected base anywhere between Hub and Ormara.

Abbasi clan is ruining our navy.. it seems current naval chief is more of a politician than a servicemen..

even if you don't have proper camouflage for naval assets bought from tax payers money atleast have common sense to not to park them together..

With a full 1050Km of coastline surely by now PN would be utilising multiple bases. I don't think underground route will suit PN geography limits the options and cost will be prohibitive as well. They need some out of the box thinking to protect location of their assets.

I wish they has a base like the Faslane. I also wish they had destroyer like the T45 but hey fan boys can only dream.:pop:

I hope no potential terrorist is reading this!!!!

Hence why we NEED a new dedicated naval base away from civilian shipping. A renegade boat could get close to not just one ship, but an entire squadron of ships in one shot!!! Remember what happened to the the USS Cole.

Bhool jao bhai. The afsars are sound asleep. When something dire will happen then the afsars will scramble for a solution.
I hope they build pens/caves for the submarines, patrol boats and frigates into the cliffs on Charna Island just west of Karachi near Hub, as well as at the cliffs at Ormara, the cliffs at Astola Island, and the cliffs at Gwadar

The two Islands especially will allow Submarines to slip into deep water quickly and return stealthy, so that enemies don't know which assets are on patrol and which are not. But these bases need to be protected with underwater nets and other sensors as well as UAV airbases to keep an eye on enemies trying to infiltrate the bases. It will especially be a potent use for the second strike capability of the Navy.

Similar to how the swedes do it

The danger of the current deployment, where all our assets are out in the open, is losing our entire navy on the first day of war.

No to sound naive, but is it for lack of funding or lack of "interest"? What happened at PNS Mehran makes me, unfortunately, inclined to believe you.

Amazingly no Floating Barriers around the PN Cruisers to protect them from potential explosive boats
There are always security boats. If any one comes with a few hundred yards of the ships they will get their a$$es shot up.
