Bangladesh to observe state mourning for 3 days in memory of Queen Elizabeth

Things need to be put into perspective.

The mourning here is not out of respect for the system of Monarchy or colonialism but for Elizabeth II specifically.
She did not decide to colonise any land but oversaw rapid decolonisation. The remaining colonies are self-governed and colonies at will.
She did not declare one single war.
She chose to visit ex-colonies throughout the world at will and carried out philanthropic activities worth billions of dollars.

You lot should be grateful to Bengalis (BD + WB) for lighting the sparks of the independence movement against British rule instead of daring to call us slaves. Most Indian and Pakistani ethnicities have historically been subservient to foreign occupation. Without Bengalis kicking asses you would still be colonies today.

Good to see Bangladesh government remains in its senses on this occassion.

You see Ukraine announce a day of Mourning for Soviet Leaders, even though those it was Stalin who was responsible for the Holodmor?

Whats the difference between the Holodomor and The Bengal Famine?

The Queen is part of the Right Wing Tory establishment, the same Tory Establishment under Churchill that Starved Bengal for Punitive reasons, when they told him about the famine, he asked if people were starving, why wasn't Gandhi dead yet?

You have a slave mentality not just to the British Monarchy, but it seems a slave mentality towards the Sheikh Hasina Monarchy.

She did not decide to colonise any land but oversaw rapid decolonisation.

She didn't oversee anything, The British Empire collapsed, Its like saying Gorbachov oversaw the dismantling of the Soviet Union, it wasn't his intention that things started collapsing around him.

She did not declare one single war.

She also never spoke out against a single war that Britian was involved in during her reign either. A million Iraqis died b/c of Invasion of Iraq under false pretenses by Tony Blair and Friends. So this point is moot.

She chose to visit ex-colonies throughout the world at will and carried out philanthropic activities worth billions of dollars.

You understand this is for the PR purposes of the Monarchy yes? It benefits the Crown and the UK to seem like benevolent forces looking after their sickly and incapable children, and a force for good. If she really wants to help, perhaps discuss reparations.

Most Indian and Pakistani ethnicities have historically been subservient to foreign occupation.
Now you want to fall back on BS narratives and racism, b/c I criticized the gov't of Bangladesh? Why so defensive? There are slave mentalities throughout the subcontinent, not just with the current govt in Bangladesh.

What a fking joke slave mentality, maybe the next Churchill will Starve Bengal again, and these clowns will observe days again for their former masters.

Welcome to my world. I have to deal with brown nose desi daily, even on this form. Some of them would cry more for this dead queen than if their mother had passed away.

Yes but why is BD observing any days of state mourning for the Queen of another country?

BD is a republic and so there is no constitutional link with UK politically.

This is just pathetic and it is probably due to some trade and economic favours that AL hopes to get from UK.

As a BD'shi I have to say that this pathetic and undignified.

Choose what you are going to die in the ditch for…because you only die once.

It’s a good gesture and does not cost BD anything.

The cost is dignity.

BD has no constitutional link with the UK and so this was not required.

I deeply respect the Queen and think she was a great human being but BD should not do anything official about her death apart from expressing condolences and wishing the best for the King who takes over.

A country where people:

1. Do not obey basic traffic laws
2. Accept and offer petty bribes
3. Litter like animals

That’s actual dignity!!

Not the pseudo pride that you are dying in the ditch for.,,

Have bangals get rid off their white colonial masters mindset yet, its been more than 70 years now ? Is queen of uk still the figure head of bangledash state, i know some countries in the commonwealth still honour the queen or king of uk as their head ?

Would UK do the same thing for BD?

No of course not and so this is not necessary or appropriate as the two countries are not related by either a constitutional and/or blood link like that exists between UK and Australia.

What has the other things you mentioned got anything to do with this issue?

Did the Pakas get rid of their white colonial masters mindset yet, its been more than 70 years now? Is the President of the USA still the figure head of Pakistan state? Your generals just sold your country for a few million bucks and some mansions in the US and Europe.

Queen was a non controversial figure.

Never goaded ethnic minorities ever.

Unlike prominent politicians and royals from other countries.

She is unique because she reigned for so long and was dignified.

Her husband did , and look into South Yemen.

when are you planning to hold a day of mourning in the UK for the next saudi monarch hat dies? If the premise sounds absurd to you, then why would you get upset about Bengalis being annoyed with this colonial mindset BS, The British Raj is over, the Empire is in the dustbin where it belongs for the better good of the world, ain't no nostalgia to this BS.

That’s actual dignity!!

Dignity is acknoledging of the theft that took place in the subcontinent and making amends like the Germans did with reperations, something we know that Britain will never do, so let leave this BS, holier than hour talk of of supposed British Imperial "dignity".

She is unique because she reigned for so long and was dignified.

Kenyan rebels were literally herded into concentration camps and tortured to death during the first years of Elizabeth's reign.
