Shale gas is gas trapped in the soil. Where better than near the gas field itself. The technology is new and it is highly unlikely anyone have tried to explore it in BD. The technogy is very expensive... you separate the gas from soil by passing it through pressure.

Can you share details of the study you are quoting that had been carried out.

Isn't extracting from Shale highly polluted? Iirc some countries are outright banning it.

LOL..Theoretical is right. The USA would have an aircraft sitting in the Bay of Bengal if there was that much oil/gas there. India wouldn't be too far behind.

Well the US tried and still does from time to time to get a base in Bay of Bengal to station one of their fleet. It was all over the news during the political turmoil in 2008s

not impossible if you just stop the supply from the main plant...
i've seen slum dwellers on tv, dry their clothes with the gas running...

Better start finding these theoretic resources. Last I read Bdesh has not really found any new viable NG fields despite looking over the last few years.

I would recommend getting the Greater Bangladesh plans up and running. Assam has tons of cheap unexploited energy that can assist Bdesh's economic development.
