Bangladesh has conveyed its support to India’s candidature for the permanent membership of the United Nations Security Council.

It was stated in the joint statement issued on the occasion of the Sheikh Hasin’s visit to India.

Bangladesh also conveyed its support to the Indian candidature for a non-permanent seat in the UNSC for 2011-2012 term.

"Responding to the prime minister of India, the prime minister of Bangladesh conveyed her country’s support in principle for India’s candidature for the permanent membership of the United Nations Security Council as and when the reform of the UN Security Council is achieved," the statement said.

its just for the time being, India needs votes to get permanent seat in UN & also to tackle Maoist rebels, after that raat gayi baat gayi. Same tactics that politicians use for getting support. That is why india is spending so much in BD's infrastructure too. common sense!

Though it is not as casual as you are trying to portray however that what geo-politics is all about..It like give and take...BD would get benefited by Indian money being pumped into infrastructure and India being benefited by having one more support for the UNSC permanent seat...

Sweet!

Five consecutive agreements, and now this, looks like India and Bangladesh are well on their way to becoming best friends.

So far all the agreement we have with india, about transit and water sharing - none of them were respected by india. The same goes here
as well. This is just calling 1-900 number.

India is an Elephant and our politicians tried to push it instead of riding its back. We need to learn how to ride its back first and this government might started doing it. we have to wait and see. :)

Yup, Zia tried to fight this elephant and Hasina is trying to befriend it for a wonderful ride.

Where is the Indian money to further build up BD infrastructure? Only this fiorum members are gossiping about this. We have already thanked India for kindly donating a big $1 million to help SIDR victims.

They are merely trying to make a rupee go a long way. Trying to claim more credit than they deserved. Shaking your hand with their right, while their left is pick-pocketing your wallet. :victory:

Eastwatch,i think you missed headlines circling hasina's delhi visit...regards
