Bangladesh looking to set up next Nuclear Power Plant: Sheikh Hasina

I am aware but the point is that BD did not have the chance to utilise It's own resources fully till 1971.
India has had 24 more years where it was the master of It's own destiny.
The united Pakistan certainly utilized its resources. Why do you think BD could not utilize its resources. Among hundred others, BD had built a few fertilizer factories, steel mill, paper mills, cable factory, many tens of jute mills. IRRI rice was introduced in BD in the late 1960s and was supported by the fertilizer factories. All the Zlaa roads, 17 govt. Polytechnic Institutes, many Universities among many others were built before 1971. Read about Kaptai Dam and power project. When it was built? How about the 2nd Capital? So, do not just talk something that shows your ignorance. Better learn the pre-1971 development history.

Our development history certainly started in 1947, when BD had only one factory, to be named. That is Mohini Mills in Kushtia. So, why can you deny all those mills & factories, roads and bridges that were built before 1971?

You are missing the point:

1. BD did not get a fair share of resources during the 1947-1971 period. Growth and development would have been far higher otherwise.
2. Pakistan did not give BD any reserves in 1971.
How did you expect BD to make progress after independence when it had no reserves, natural resources it could sell or any industry to earn export revenue?

An independent BD is the fastest growing major economy in the world now and you can only wonder at how developed BD would be if it had the same real development start date like India or Pakistan.

I hate how she continuously brings the past into everything.

Damn man, get over 1971.

Its a new world with new challenges.

she harps about 1971. but it was right to think the Russians. they provided the vetoes in the UN Security Council

Is there any numerical data on how much money Bangladesh lost during 1947-1971 ?

.
1. Thats not entirely bad considering the demand (or lack thereof).

2. well as the old saying goes, something is better than nothing(read :everything imported).

3. No one is arguing that, at least, i hope not.

4. I reckoned joint ventures were good for dometsic companies;they gain some manufacturing and technological expertise and foreign company doesn't get away with the entirety of the money?

E: oh...he's banned..

Sorry but this was not the attitude of 99% of Bdees here when they were posting the guaranteed projections cpl years back.

BD was supposed to have been exporting 100 of millions of dollars of just walton refrigerators by now...and producing billions more for domestic market. (I can post the links of the massive convos by @Bilal9 et co).

If 99% of Bdees were instead more rationale and sanguine about their economy prospects and projections, there would be much more better subforum here.

If you ask my opinion, I would not wish the banning of @Nilgiri, only because his inverse reactions make this sub-forum more lively. But, he always exceed the limit and seems to hate BD with a passion. Wish him to come back early. Without posters like him BD posters will lose unity and will start criticizing their own people.

Still no conceding of you of these 3, till then no serious convo with you:
