What's new

Bangladesh has started upgrading Type-59 tank locally

Its fm-90 my friend sorry it's 1998 not 1988 is typed wrong still 16 year old please check it was developed from fm-80 which even much old tech of cold war era. Not comparison with Today advance Sam like Barak, SPYDER, S-400, Hq-9.Still export same will give minimum cover best go for Co-development project with South Koreans
bold part: nice try :haha:

do you know that barak, spyder, s-400 and hq-9 have different functions ? study first lol

. .
The HQ-7A (or else FM-90) is a good SAM that was produced in 1998 but it's not exactly great. It has a maximum operating altitude of 6km. A Su-30MKI can easily fly above that. If it doesn't want to fly above it it can easily launch an Kh-31 anti-radar missile from far away, since the FM-90 only has a range of 15km, and destroy the SAM. So if an HQ-7A is the best SAM that BD has and it actually wants to be able to seriously challenge the Indian air force, it has to get some SAMs with longer range.

The ideal is to have long range SAMs, medium range SAMs and short range SAMs so that one compliments the other and covers up its weaknesses. For example if someone manages to get 5km away from an S-300PMU1, he won. It can't hit him anymore because that's its minimum range. If you have a few short range SAMs with the S-300 though, that can change.

This is a video that I found in the Internet. It says 300 type-59 tanks will be upgraded to type-59G.

Type 59G
A heavily redesigned modernized variant approaching 3rd-generation standards with a new welded turret similar to the Type 96G replacing the original cast turret, new arrow shaped armor on the rear and sides, additional rubber side skirts, second generation night vision, a new 800 or 730 horsepower engine, redesigned fire control system, and a 48 caliber 125mm smoothbore main gun with semi-automatic loader capable of firing APFSDS, HEAT, HE-FRAG, and also anti-tank guided missiles. In service with PLA, Tanzania, and recently ordered by Bangladesh Army. Around 300 Type 59G will be procured and upgraded by the Bangladesh Army.

Defense Updates: FM-90 / HQ-7B SAM Air Defense System

Maximum Radar Range: 25000 m
Maximum Range: 15000 m

Its radar can detect an aircraft from 25km away but the missile can't actually reach the enemy from that far away.

I don't know where you get your info about its altitude range being 10km.

He knows that man.he even knows that Sam can only give you minimum protection best it can shoot down 1-2 aircrafts 3-4 best if you got western but still it will not assure 100% probility to hit advance aircraft like mki with advance EW sensors .probility to shoot down aircraft are highly difficult than of a incoming missile as fighter can do high maneuvers specialy with TVC so It's hard to detect and shoot down aircraft from land based SAM's in present war senorios No SAM system in world will has hitting probility of 100%.

nor any air force has, depends on SAM type and aircraft type, it might not shoot down aircraft but it can engage with missile, did you forget about it ?

@As is - where is same to you too

Yeah it was mistake but I was really right on my assumption.it was old tech lack upgrade according to present senorios still nowhere against today's advanced SAMs

Did forget how many fighter is flown in one shortie suppose 2 squadron's are flown in one shortie so you think SAM like fm-90 can engage all in one time plus fighter's of today have AWAC'S cover so it's no easy to engage them
