Rwanda demonstrates Chinese truck artillery and Chinese heavy-duty anti-tank missiles for the first time

[Text / Observer Network Plug Open Source] The British "Jane's Defense Weekly" website reported on December 12 that Rwanda President Paul Kagame visited the Rwanda Defence Forces' annual synthetic military exercise on December 11 and watched the artillery fire drill. For the first time, the CS/SH-1 122mm car howitzer and the Red Arrow-9A millimeter wave guided heavy anti-tank missile were used for actual combat exercises.

According to Jane's Weekly, this is the first time Rwanda has demonstrated that it has a CS/SH-1 car howitzer that is equipped with a 122mm howitzer mounted on a Shaanxi 6x6 truck with a digital artillery system and China. The PCL-09 truck cannon for personal use is basically the same. CS/SH-1 is the codename for Poly's export and cannot be confused with Northern Industries' 155mm SH-1 155mm car howitzer.

It seems that the movement of Rwandan soldiers to operate the artillery is quite decent.

Direct target with a large number of discrete targets in the target area

Rwanda conducted a direct drill using the CS/SH-1 during the exercise. At the same time, the SH-3 122mm crawler-type self-propelled howitzer appeared in the exercise. The gun made its debut in the Rwandan Defence Force's 2017 exercise.

Observer network military commentators said that Rwanda was once one of the poorest countries in the world, and there have been horrendous genocides. In the 1990s, the current Rwandan government forces fleeing neighboring countries in the Holocaust regained power with the help of Tanzania and other countries, and then participated in the Congo (Kinshasa) civil war known as the "African World War."

Although the number of Rwandan National Defence Forces is not large, but because of the courage to fight and the military skills, the support of the African multinational coalition forces supporting their opponents, despite their superiority, is incapable of relying on guerrilla warfare to consume the Rwandan army.

The figure shows the CS/SH-1, SH-3 self-propelled artillery and two Turkish "Cobra" armored vehicles.

From the point of view of the equipment, this should be the observer of CS/SH-1.

During the war, the Rwandan army occupied and controlled a large area of land and mines for a long time. Objectively, these incomes have greatly contributed to the economic recovery of Rwanda.

Since the end of the war, Rwanda has reached a country with a relatively fast economic development in Africa. Rwandan President Kagame has issued a rhetoric to build the country into "African Switzerland."

The Rwandan Defence Force is now actively promoting mechanization and digital construction, and purchasing weapons from many countries in the world.

At present, the main force of the Rwandan National Defence Force is the T-55 tank modified by Israel, equipped with 105mm artillery and a more advanced fire control system.

Rwandan President Kagame made a speech after watching the exercise and asked the officers and men to study hard to master modern military technology.

In terms of its artillery system, the previous main force was the 29-door Soviet-made 152-mm D-1, which is now replaced by a new-style car howitzer and a crawler-type self-propelled howitzer. In 2016, Rwanda demonstrated the Israeli ATMOS 155mm 39-foot car howitzer in the exercise. However, according to the analysis, it may be just a prototype for testing, and it has not been purchased in large quantities. The CS/SH-1 that appeared this time may be the main weapon for the actual artillery of the country's future artillery.

In addition, Rwanda also purchased the "Dragon 50" air defense missile and the SH-3 crawler self-propelled howitzer and other weapons. In this military exercise, the Red Arrow-9A anti-tank installed on the Turkish Cobra armored vehicle was also exhibited for the first time.

In 2017, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, which has a relationship with Rwanda, purchased 50 T-64BM1M tanks from Ukraine. These tanks were modernized and equipped with “Contact 5” reactive armor, and their performance completely overwhelmed Rwanda’s main Ti67 tank. In this case, Rwanda had to buy the Chinese Red Arrow-9A heavy anti-tank missile.

The existing T-55 modified tank in Rwanda is clearly underperforming, and the country may have to consider updating the tank unit in the future.

Consider the VT-3 improved tank solution previously purchased in Bangladesh, basically using the chassis of the T-55 and 59 tanks, installing the MBT-2000 gun, fire control system, additional armor, engine and transmission system... ...

If you are ashamed of the real money, you can also follow the move of its "teacher" of the Rwandan Defence Force, the 59G model purchased by the Tanzanian army. The fire control system, armor and mobile system of the car are inferior than the above VT-3 tank, but very cost -effective.
