Bangladesh’ GDP Growth Better Than India, Way Higher Than Pakistan – ADB

.
He's right actually.

Rather in some indicators Ethiopia and Senegal are ahead of India.
Yeah well, I guess neither of you understands what's being discussed or simply you're just sour.

India is close and our per capitas are similar. Of course comparison would arise. It is not a bad thing.
Take us on any economic indicators. On what exactly are we similar? Per capita income does not show anything other than the ratio of population and GDP on the absolute scale.

On any economic indicators out there, you can clearly understand our economies are only comparable on numbers like these ratios.

I'm not saying it is a bad thing. But you should be comparing economies of your own size and population.

Two countries that share border and has similar history both being part of British empire...will naturally be compared to each other. By our outlets. By your new outlets and sometimes by neutral outlets as well.

In that perspective yeah, sure. From an economic pov, this comparison is irrelevant we have more differences than similarities which is what I said the first time.

But but we have seen, you guys are fond of comparing Indian achievement with those of UK, Germany, Japan etc. Although these country's size and population is only a tiny fraction of India. So you guys have no reservation comparing India with rich small countries but have a huge ego issue with comparing a similar economic condition, neighboring smaller country? Why is that? It is not that, we are obsessed with comparing with India or Pakistan. If you look at the sources of these type of news, it mostly stem from your own media. I just find your elitist attitude funny.

GDP wise, we compare them because a 2+ trillion GDP which grows at 7-8 % per year is a significant growth rate. We will keep on doing that until our growth rate falls down to 3-4%. Because adding $200+B has an impact on the world economy. So, until you reach a point where your GDP is half a trillion I don't think such a comparison has any point.

The reason many compare India and Pakistan is because of the rivalry (which again is not comparable). We don't have one with you. But we can still compare on social indicators which is a good thing. Also, calling me elitist only shows you lot are insecure and emotional. I simply said our economies are incomparable on most fronts, the way you reply to me this way only proves my point. :)

Also, you're a LDC country. First promote from LDC status. Because the last time I check Pakistan is not a LDC while Bangladesh is. I don't think you need the definition of LDC.

OK. Mighty wise one we bow down to your Sageness.:disagree:

BD should hit the half a trillion mark by around 2023 at current growth rates. So are we ok to compare BD and Indian economy then?

.
Can we please stop with these self-congratulatory "Bangladesh better than India/Pak" threads?
Are India/Pakistan standard bears of development?

Is it necessary to rub every tiny achievement in their faces?

"Yay, we are slightly better among backward third world shitholes while about 6 million of us work shitkicker jobs overseas!".

Agree.

Its the pot calling the kettle black.

70% of Pak economy is undocumented/unregulated/untaxed etc.!!! So, comparisons are hard to make since direct estimations aren’t possible!!! But some signatures are too visible to hide even for the Pak folks (Pak is the master of hiding. Even CIA/MOSSAD/RAW, the ultimate Satanic agents, couldn’t find her nukes. Who are WB/ADB/UN/IMF etc.???)

200K new cars are sold in Pak a year with a CAGR of 20%. BD sells 5K cars per year. Total #of cars in BD is ~350K, but in Pak it’s ~3m.

2m new motorbikes are sold in Pak with a CAGR of ~20%, and Pak has in total ~12m of them. BD has in total 1.6m motorbikes.

Some other interesting #s. In Karachi alone, 250K private armed-to-the-teeth guards are employed to provide security to the Escobar-class cartels!!! And, they employ 3m BD folks, who are economic illegal migrants, as domestic helps!! And, Pak folks have trashed 350b US$ in foreign countries while being habitual and voracious consumers and spenders!!! It just shows whoever comes up with any estimations, based on the documented Pak economy, is heavily deceived....

Bangladesh also has substantial undocumented economy. If you have undocumented economy show it on paper. Other then that don’t whine about it.

You probably don’t know how to reead#s like BD’s finance minister!!! By the by, how’s life like a Tetmite under the Hindus going????

I have repeatedly said, comparision between Pakistan and Bangladesh is like comparing UK with Serbia. Both countries are in different leagues.

I can confidently say that if Bangladesh was to face what Pakistan is facing for 3 decades, Bangladesh will loose hope and even split into several countries. Pakistan has been on war for 3 decades with millions of illegal refugees flooding in.

Pakistan also stands as regional power which of course is a threat to many countries who therefore create troubles internationally for Pakistan.

Pakistan is also a big land with population spread here and there unlike Bangladesh whose land is almost similar to just 1 pakistani province of Sind and everyone live close by. It is way easier to transport and ship merchandise.

Multiple provinces are also alien to Bangladesh whereas in Pakistan the center has to keep provincial govt's concerns in mind before making decisions.

Most people in Pakistan simply don't care where Bangladesh heads because it makes zero impact on Pakistan. If you grow it is great to see a fellow Muslim nation growing. Good luck to you.

We live in the most unpredictable region on Earth and its understandable that people need daily reassurance that things are still ok.

That does not mean we have forgotten the bigger picture. The entire region can change in a heartbeat, so the average Bangladeshi will never gloat over others.

BD has survived all these years due partly to our well-wishers in this region and we can never forget that. BD strength has been to maintain great relationships with everyone over the years, that will not change just because we are doing well right now.

Bottom line Bangladesh has overtaken Pakistan in terms of GDP nominal despite having 25% less population, per capita gdp nominal, per capita income, export earning with almost double margin, 3.3 times foreign reserve, Literacy rate is 73% vs mare 58%. The gap will only widen over the years and in coming decades. By 2030 ADB predicted Bangladesh will be 26th largest economy in the world and Pakistan will be 30th. In cricket match or football you also see the differences.

By bringing topics like province is foreign to Bangladesh, this or that and bringing comparison like UK to Siberia you are just ridiculing yourself.

But you are right in one aspect Bangladesh and Pakistan are not in same league as Bangladesh moved ahead of Pakistan keeping it behind. More then 50% of your woman are illiterate and has no contribution to economic activity. With pathetic situation like this even in 100 years Pakistan will not be able to come to the same league like Bangladesh.

Another thing I did not include debt to GDP ratio. Whatever you will make mos of it will go for paying the debt.
